Moray Hypnotherapy på Google Hypnosis feels different to different people. People who have undergone hypnosis report different feelings whilst 'under'. Moray Hypnotherapy på Google A hypnotised person remains in complete control. Hypnosis occasionally makes an appearance on TV. Usually part of a story-line where the hypnotised person has lost all sense of time or control and becomes a zombie-like puppet. In reality, people in a relaxed state of hypnosis remain completely in co...
Moray Hypnotherapy på Google MORE HYPNO FACTS! Stage hypnosis and clinical hypnosis are very different. When 'hypnosis' is mentioned, most people tend to think of stage hypnosis. This is where a hypnotist chooses seemingly random people, sends them to sleep, and asks them to do hilarious things. It is worth mentioning here that...

MORE HISTORICAL HYPNO FACTS! Some of the earliest recorded descriptions of hypnosis date back to ancient Egypt in 1500 BCE. Imhotep, the world's first-known physician, used healing sanctuaries known as Sleep Temples. The temples were used for a type of suggestion therapy, and people would go to be healed from problems both physical and mental. It is said that patients visiting a Sleep Temple would be put under the influence of incantation, or hypnotic state. Before ultimately falling asleep, the physician would give them whatever suggestions might help overcome their problem in hope that the Gods would visit the patient during their sleep and heal them.
MORE HYPNO FACTS! Officially hypnosis has been about since the 18th Century. Franz Mesmer usually credited with bringing hypnosis to the attention of the public sometime around 1770. The Austrian physician likely knew about the use of hypnosis by earlier societies, and spent much of his career studying hypnosis and its effects on the human mind. Interestingly, Mesmer referred to hypnosis as "animal magnetism" or "mesmerism" and the latter is still used today. To be totally engrossed and focused on something leaving you 'mesmerised'!
GUIDE TO FINDING A HYPNOTHERAPIST FOR YOU: PART 3 - Be cautious of anyone claiming to 'cure' you of 'anything' and 'everything' - especially 100%. This is a guarantee no-one should offer - despite fantastic results from hypnotherapy. Also be wary of anyone suggesting that they will resolve 'everything' for you in just one session. Whilst this is very possible for some issues - it depends on what you are seeking help with, what is achieved during the first session and how everything settles - or your subconscious mind settles down - after allowing a period of time (normally a week) to be able to confirm this is the case. Anywhere between 1 and 4 sessions is to be reasonably expected and should be more than enough for most issues to be resolved. On the other hand it should not take multiple sessions either! So, in a nutshell, be aware of being undersold and oversold!
GUIDE TO FINDING A HYPNOTHERAPIST FOR YOU PART 2: So, if your chosen therapist looks a bit like the guy in the pic, then you may wish to reconsider - unless he is a part-time comedian on the side! Seriously, make sure you have a good consultation before deciding. This well enable both yourself and the practitioner to get to know each other a little beforehand. If trauma is the issue you have, you DO NOT have to share any traumatic experiences at length. Just a general over-view of what you need help with will suffice. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. The therapist should also assure you that your information and sessions are confidential.
Just had a lovely little first review from a client who had two sessions of hypnotherapy for insomnia back in August. To protect confidentiality I will only use initials - so FW sent me "Joanne puts you at ease immediately and more importantly, Hypnotherapy works"!! Glad to help!
What to look for when trying to find a hypnotherapist - well firstly - personal recommendation is always a good start. However, what may have been a good 'fit' for the person who gave the recommendation may not necessarily be a good fit for you. Not unlike finding a hairdresser. They may all be good - just not quite the right one for you. And because hypnotherapy (and quite rightly so) is entrenched in trust, you really do need to feel comfortable and at ease with your therapist. Find out as much as you can about them - do they provide help and support for you even before you decide to commit? Have they adequately answered your questions? Have they provided any information about hypnotherapy before you decide to take the plunge? This will be especially helpful as there are a lot of myths about hypnotherapy and information about what it is, and what it is not, will help you decide if this is the right thing for you. A good match will be someone you feel comfortable with and makes you feel that you are being listened to and cared for throughout the whole process. From first meeting to final session. It is, and should be, all about you!
GUIDE TO FINDING A HYPNOTHERAPIST FOR YOU PART 1:
More hypnotherapy facts! A person stays completely awake during hypnosis. Contrary to popular belief, hypnotism is a natural state of mind. It is not a form of sleep. Scientists have proven over and over again that patients remain wide-awake while 'under' hypnosis, and even retain complete control of their actions.
The average person experiences hypnosis several times a day. Common examples include arriving at your destination without memory of driving there, zoning-out while reading a book, or becoming so engrossed in a movie or tv show that you barely realise half the day has passed!
We hand over control of many mundane and repetitious tasks to our subconscious mind because if we had to think about every single action we did, we simply would not be able to function. Think about all the different thought processes that go into making a cup of tea. You just do it on auto-pilot without giving it much thought because you are probably thinking about something much more interesting or important with your conscious mind!
Thanks to twisty television plots and Vegas-style magic shows, hypnosis is one of the most fascinating - yet least understood - forms of therapy. Despite that, hypnosis is an accepted form of medical treatment. Hypnosis - also known as hypnotherapy - has its doubters, but it has been an accepted form of medical treatment since the 1950s. Every year, more and more people seek out appointments with hypnotherapists to find a positive and healthy way to address fears and negative behaviours. To achieve this, hypnotherapists, help patients access their subconscious mind, something we all do, several times each and every day without even realising . . . So, as for those TV plots, you cannot be hypnotised to do ANYTHING against your will, or something that would be in conflict with your own moral code.
