Our next guest artist this year is Kay Dilley. Kay is a self-taught artist based in Frome. She has always been drawn to plants and liked to draw them. Kay used to think art had to push boundaries and make grand statements but has since realised it can simply be a way to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

"I love wandering down to the market in Frome to choose a flower to draw then coming back to my home studio. I live in the attic of a Victorian School which is the perfect place to create. I like to think it’s were the ideas live."

Visit us at venue 17, The Bennett Centre, Vicarage Street from the 6th to the 14th July to see more of Kay's work.

This year at the Vicarage Street Gallery, we are welcoming three new guest artists/makers. The first of these is Jenny Raggett. Jenny Raggett is a decorative artist working at the Silk Mill in Frome.

Jenny trained as a biochemist and then as a technical author working in computer research and development. Having always loved painting and particularly colour and pattern, she remained a 'secret' artist for many years, painting at every opportunity in living rooms and garden sheds.
It had always been a dream to learn how to make decorated stained glass, and at last Jenny found a traditionally-trained stained-glass artist in Bristol to teach her the painting and firing techniques used in the production of church glass. With a delight in nature and flowers, she uses these techniques to create stained glass panels which have much in common in terms of design, colour and decorative elements, with her paintings.
Visit us at venue 17, The Bennett Centre, Vicarage Street, Frome from the 6th to the 14th July to see more of Jenny's work.

The Vicarage Street Gallery - A Brief History

Several years ago a group of artists decided that using the newly refurbished Bennett Centre, the Church Hall for St Johns Church during the annual Frome Open Studios in July, now the Frome Open Art Trail, would be a great way to promote this new venue and to showcase a wide variety of work.

Over time the venue on Vicarage Street in Frome has improved with new facilities being installed all the time, it is now a vibrant Frome town centre venue with parking next door.

Over the years some of the artists have changed, but we are still proud to offer a wide variety of art to our visitors. In the unfortunate situation of the Covid 19 pandemic this year the Frome Festival and thus the Frome Open Art Trail has been postponed until 2021. In these difficult times we feel as artists that we can still create and still bring things of beauty into the lives of others. We hope that our fans, and hopefully new fans will support our participation in the virtual art trail being organised and will come and visit us once we can all go out again.

Stay safe everyone and keep well.
