The Independent Living Centre in Wellington is re-launching and those who work in the health, social care, voluntary and community sector are invited to look around the centre on Friday 20th January 9am – 12pm.
You will be able to see and test out technology that supports people in a caring role and see what equipment is on offer to support independent living.
This event is hosted by Somerset’s Adult Social Care Team.

You can now skip the social services waiting lists by visiting Somerset’s new Independent Living Centre’s (ILC) in Shepton Mallett and Wellington.
At the ILC Somerset County Council’s qualified therapists can offer free advice, signposting and some equipment or technology that will make life easier, whether that is a grabrail or a commode. FREE TRAINING!
The Somerset End of Life Care Education Team, in partnership with St Margaret’s Hospice, are delighted to present a brand new course for all micro-providers in Somerset.
The course will focus on how to achieve best practice in communication when working with those at the end of life. It will cover:
• Advance Care Planning
• Treatment Escalation Planning
• The dying process
• The use of Just in Case meds at the End of Life
• Positioning the person for symptomatic relief

We have had a lot of interest in lovely people wanting to become micro providers which is fantastic! 😁 One question which is asked a lot is, “what do you like most about being a micro provider”. I was hoping that everyone could write in the comments below, what you like best and why about being a micro provider and how long you’ve been delivering your services.
This will help anyone new wanting to join, get an insight is the services we deliver.

Somerset Micro-provider network was established in 2015 with the aim of making sure that people wherever they live in Somerset can get a real choice of local, flexible, high quality care and support services.
Comprising of over 350 small independent care and support providers Somerset’s Micro-providers are working tirelessly to give local people the care they need to live the lives they want at this challenging time.
Our members have come together in the collective belief that care and support is best when it is responsive, highly personalised and built on a trusted relationships where the person the receiving support is in full control of how and where it happens.
This page has been created to recognise the contribution of this often hidden front line care workforce, especially in responding to the challenges of Coronavirus in Somerset.
