The biggest ever Bute Studio Trail is only 5 days away! On 22 and 23 July, 43 artists on the Isle of Bute will open their studios or shared venues from 10am-5pm each day. The friendly Isle of Bute has much to offer at any time of year, but with more artists than ever taking part this year, there is a huge range of creative talent waiting for you this particular weekend. Less than a month to go... The biggest-ever Bute Studio Trail will take place on 22 and 23 July! 43 artists on the Isle of Bute will open their studios or venues from 10am to 5pm.
Plan ahead to get the most out of the Bute Studio Trail. Take a look at the map on our website or in the Bute Studio Trail brochure to see where your favourite artists are based and work out who you would like to see. There are painters, sculptors, printmakers, woodworkers, upholsterers, performance artists, textile artists, glass artists, jewellery designers, and more.
There are 27 venues to visit, several within walking distance from the Rothesay ferry terminal. Two ferry routes service the island: Colintraive to Rhubodach (2 mins) and Wemyss Bay to Rothesay (35 mins). You can take the train from Glasgow Central Station to meet the Wemyss Bay ferry. Visit the CalMac Ferries website for more information on fares and timetables.
If you come on foot you can hire a bike on the island, take the public bus, or hop on the CitySightseeing Bute open-top bus which will drop you off close to venue locations. We can't wait to welcome you!

On the 22nd and 23rd of July 2023, 43 artists and craftspeople on the Isle of Bute are opening the doors to their studios from 10am-5pm each day. There are also several venues where the work of multiple artists can be admired.
The Bute Studio Trail is a great day out and a lovely way to explore the Isle of Bute. You can catch the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay (35 minutes) or the ferry from Colintraive to Rhubodach (5 minutes). Come as a foot passenger and hire e-bikes in Rothesay, or catch a bus. Or bring your own bike or car.
