So it begins........

I have 3 ideas what I'm going to paint, which means I'll go with the 4th one.

Totally random, I just added U2s "where the streets have no name" I love U2, I named my youngest after the Joshua Tree Album, very handy for the school register AB Album Bailey 😂😂

I went to Miami in 2001 to see U2 play, two things I remember from that concert was standing up from my massive armchair seat with beer holders, starting a Mexican Wave, wearing my leather jeans, Versace shirt -black with brown and gold bits on it (that was a wicked shirt)

The 2nd thing was standing at the urinals during "Bullet in the blue sky" that song goes on a bit to long and hearing the organs intro starting to play for "where the streets have no name", I swear to God that was the longest wee I've ever had! 😂

Probably too much info but that intro always take me back there ❤️

I'm just saying if I don't get tickets, I will be sulking for a year!

Can anyone else see the man in the cloud?
It looks like he is sliding down a slide! 🤣

One of these photos was taken recently Private View Night and the other only a few years before 🤣 doesn't time fly!

I studied Art at college, mainly to avoid as much reading and writing as I could.

I left college chasing the Rockstar dream playing in some really cool Rock/ indie bands and had some of the best years and experiences possible.

Then when the Music died, I found Art again and am living the best life, I'm so grateful I had the courage to pick up the paint brushes after 20 years.

ART IS LIFE!

PS - if I see any laughing emojis you will be unfollowed. The photo on the right was from my Modelling days as a hand model!

Last night, I was thinking how lucky I was being selected for it was so busy and the standard of Art is so high.

I was talking to a family, the Dad sent his Son off to find his favorite piece in the Exhibition. The young man was slightly younger than my eldest but older than my youngest Son and this was it, 'Blue Cloud 2' he liked the softer Orange in the Sunset and the tree line.

As an Artist we Love to Sell our work, but that Kid made my Day.

I'm not good on my own with that 'Public Transport' on Monday I delivered my paintings to the . (Which looks amazing)

Now only a few days later, I have completely forgotten the tube part of the Journey!

So I'm going to test my memory and see where the tube takes me for tonight's Opening of the Exhibition, if I'm there on time 6pm, then I gave up and used my phone, if I'm late then have faith I will work it out and will be there before 9pm 🤣

Sometimes I wish I could be a real Artist and live with mess, but i can't so my creativity is on hold while I clean, hoover and mop my studio.

And yes I did do the Hoovering! 🤣🤣

"Blue Clouds 1" 40x40cm Oils on stretched canvas.

I really do enjoy painting, its freedom and so relaxing. This landscape of the icey blue clouds is completely made up but based on Riddlesdown Common.

I sold a print of this to a lady recently, who loves Orange its her favourite colour, her husband was telling me how every room in their house has something Orange in it and her car is Orange, he takes it when they go shopping so they can find it easier in the carpark 🤣

Can you imagine a World without colour? It'll be like only having Rich Tea biscuits to dunk in your tea!

I've tested my new gazebo ready for this Sundays Kent Food Festival.

Maybe I should have taken my paintings out of the gazebo when using the hosepipe to see how waterproof it was, No paintings were harmed during this experiment!

The rain might have been enough to check but as the hosepipe was already out, I thought I'd double check and its all good, very waterproof 🤣

The Weather looks good for most of Sunday, but if it does rain, all are welcome to my stand, I'm currently baking some Millionaire Shortbreads!

Good Morning.

This time last year I had my first ever Art exhibition and The Gallery Warlingham was kind enough to have me. I was very worried about showing my Art, but the response and messages I received were so positive.

I'm back in The Showcase window for the next two weeks, until 10am on the 8th of June. Please only look at my Original Oil paintings and DO NOT buy them, especially 'Visiting Mr Moon'! Prints are available inside the shop.

I have had such an amazing journey and over the last year have met so many brilliant people, and have met real Artists, I didn't know any Artists before then. I have taken part in 11 exhibitions/ Shows/ Art Fairs and sold Original Oil paintings and prints.

My first painting 'Misty Morning' Sold through The Gallery Warlingham and I was slightly taken back, emotional. Two reasons, firstly I loved that painting and secondly someone out there actually liked my Art enough to buy it.

Its such a strange experience selling your Art, a few weeks ago at the Sussex Art Fair I sold another favourite painting, annoyingly I wasn't going to take my painting 'Sarah's Tree's (Whats the time Mr Wolf?) but I can't keep them all in my house and need the space in my studio. Plus I thought its too large, nobody would buy it.

But to my amazement, someone came up and said 'I'm buying that, I love it' my reply was 'shut up' (very professional) but that wasn't enough to stop the sale, I literally had wet stuff in my eyes, seeing the genuine love for my painting was extremely overwhelming, I had to sit outside in the sunshine on the grass for a while to calm down. The new proud owner has sent me photos of it and it fits so perfectly in her house.

Most of my paintings are made up based on the views of Riddlesdown Common from my house, and the clouds are made up, I love where I live.

My favourite saying that I have heard and didn't know it was a thing is "I love the painting, but it wouldn't go with the sofas" 🤣

Have a lovely day, Simon

I am still feeling very emotional about letting this painting go, but know that it has gone to a beautiful person and will be loved ❤

TITLE: Sarah'sTrees (What's the time Mr Wolf?)

Original oil painting on stretched canvas 48 x 30 inches. 20mm depth.

Landscape

This painting was inspired from a photograph taken by my friend Sarah Anderson near Sanderstead roundabout.

Every tree has it's own story, blowing in the wind, bending out of shape, to spooky - I'm going to get you!

I imagined while painting, that the trees are playing a game of, 'what's the time Mr Wolf?' Waiting for the viewers to turn around, so they can slowly move forwards and then freeze ones the viewer is watching again.

To me, 'Sarah's Trees (What's the time Mr Wolf?)' is two separate paintings in one. When the viewer stands back, you can see the trees, in their bright greens and purple colours standing strong and proudly stretching out. As the viewer moves forward to the painting, the leafs take over and dance around in the wind.

Meet 'Patience' named after one of my favourite songs by Guns and Roses. I loved painting this painting and have spent many hours looking at it and see something different everytime. I'm not going to say what I see as that'll spoil the fun, but I will say 'The Neverending Story'

I am so excited to be exhibiting this weekend at the open today and tomorrow 12th May 11am - 5pm, come and find me on Stand 20 and say hello.

07/05/2024

I'm getting this ready to send of to it's New Home and the Sun pops out and shows off all the colours!

Why do people always buy your favourite pieces? 😂

What a lovely weekend. I've met so many cool people and have learnt so much. I can't wait for next weekend.

What a brilliant day, the 2nd day of the . I have met so many lovely people and had so much fun, I stuck one of my business cards on my friend stall, it was there for hours 😂😂 only to then find he had slipped one of his cards on my display 😂😂😂

I had a secrect meeting with Q today at The National Gallery.

Lovely atmosphere in Trafalgar square for the St Patrick's day parade.

13/03/2024

There's something not quite working with this one. I'm not sure what it is, I might need to leave it for a while and see if it jumps out at me.

05/03/2024

Nearly finished this one, I think I need to add some highlights to the clouds. I really enjoyed scratching into the undergrowth to add some texture.

This was inspired by an early morning run on Riddlesdown Common watching the sun rise.

The Life of a Morden Man!

While waiting for my Hot Tub to warm up and as my studio was half empty after yesterdays show, I decided to clean my studio, using that electric wind thing that cleans up and the wet broom thing that washes the floor.

This gave me time to process the last two weekends and plan for my next two shows and both in May.

I'm not a sales person and probably like most artists feel really awkward standing infront of my Art, it feels to me like, if you are looking to buy a house and the current owners are there you talk to them and don't really remember what the house looked like, but if they aren't at home then you have a really good nose around the house.

I do however Love watching people admire my Art and love answering questions, it's a weird feeling and a massive buzz. The best bit is when people point out things which they see in the painting, the painting you painted and had no idea that it was there. Like my "Pink Cloud" painting, apparently looks like a wave with sharks in it. Now I see them, i can't unsee them, that's the beauty about clouds and why I enjoy painting them, people can see anything they want to see.

I think the main thing about the next shows are, they are HUGE events and are over 3 days and standing all day in the lights I know will set my Migraines off.

QUESTION.....

So what I was thinking is, do you think it would be ok if I had a large size cardboard cut out of myself and left it infront of my stand so I could regularly sneak outside for some fresh air? 😂😂

Poll

Yes, that's absolutely fine

NO!
