A fantastic transformation and much more usable bathroom, with a walk in shower that is much more suitable for the homeowners
What was meant to be a fast panel change in an enclosure led to a bit more work than expected.
Previously paneled over unsecure tiles, so all were removed. Studwork removed from over tiles also.
New stud section fitted to one side to enclose pipework for new shower valve to keep them all hidden.
New flooring laid and new basin vanity and toilet fitted.
A bit of boxing in after to match new paneling and things are looking much better.
Unfortunately this 'recently replaced' bathroom looked lovely at first glance but unfortunately due to poor installation, had many hidden issues.
A call out for concern of a leaking shower, unfortunately led to a full removal and replacement. The leak had spread wide and far and had damaged huge sections of floor.
Unfortunately we also had to rip up the underfloor heating that the previous fitters had laid to repair all of the damage underneath.
Even the toilet had been leaking and I think it was pure luck that it hadn't ended up in the room below.
After ripping out all of the damaged flooring and strengthening joists where necessary, repair sections were fitted and the bathroom could go back together.
After completing a full shower enclosure replacement, underfloor heating and flooring and toilet refit, the customer asked if I could just check the plumbing of the basin. Upon removal of the paneling, shock! We found more issues. The previous installer had obviously been led to believe that water runs up hill and that clips just aren't necessary. Anyway... All pipes were replaced with solvent weld and things were draining away nicely.
The customer was over the moon with the work carried out, it's just a shame for them that it wasn't done correctly the first time.
A before and after of a little bathroom update out in the sticks.
A laminate worktop was not an ideal previous choice for this utility area with Belfast sink.
An oak block worktop installed and a new mixer tap to go with it.
