Na’ then, I hope all thee Yorkshire folk have ‘ad a r**t lush Yorkshire Day today!
(Apologies to all you fine Yorkshire folk for the dodgy translation 😁).
Sir Kenneth Grange the industrial and product designer sadly passed away today. As a co-founder of the design agency Pentagram he was a big influence on me as a design communications student in the late 80s and early 90s.
I then graduated and got my first job in London in a design agency (unfortunately not Pentagram 😁) using that influence of simple, clever, designs that solve a problem, and make our everyday environment that bit more interesting and easier to navigate.
When I would travel from London to see family back in Durham, more often than not I’d be travelling on one of Sir Kenneth’s most iconic and well known designs - the Inter-City 125 high speed train.(pictured is the locomotive named in Sir Kenneth’s honour- now taking pride of place in the National Railway Museum, York). I wonder how many other passengers on those ground-breaking trains knew of the genius behind its design (and that of the angle poise lamp, the Kodak camera, the Kenwood food mixer, the Parker pen, the London black taxi…).
Thanks for the great designs Sir Kenneth!

Hey Scotland, just in case you’ve forgotten what summer looks like, here’s a photograph from a couple of years ago of Pittenweem on the east coast, basking in beautiful sunshine and blue skies.
It’s hard to believe it’s almost July, and it’s hard to believe that the Scottish schools are breaking up for their summer holidays today! It feels more like October half term weather 💨🌧️🤨

Earlier this week I dropped off another batch of my prints and postcards the fabulous in the equally fabulous in Bo’ness, Falkirk.
Thanks again to Cherie for the new order!
You can see my prints, postcards and a colourful selection of prints from other artists in the print shop within the collective.
A fantastic partial rainbow 🌈 this evening over the Firth of Forth near Limekilns, Fife.
It’s just a shame the weather is feeling more like October than June 💨. Maybe I’ll find that pot of gold to make up for it 😁
🌈
I delivered more good stuff to the wonderful little in Culross, Fife today.
Thanks to Michele and Kirsty for the order of tea towels (this is the third batch delivered in a month 😳) and the order of postcards and cards.

This is pretty much how the sky is looking right now over the Firth of Forth with torrential rain and thunder. Hope you’re keeping dry ☔️⚡️
A smidge under 200 postcards (192 to be exact) delivered today to at South Queensferry, Scotland.
And of course the bridges across the River Forth are the theme of the four individual designs dropped off (second image), as Port Edgar has quite possibly the best views of the bridges.
Thank you to Cara at Port Edgar Marina for the order!

You’ve probably heard of the great fire of London, but have you heard of the great fire of Dunfermline?
It happened exactly 400 years ago today - 25th May 1624. And although Dunfermline was much smaller than it is today, the fire destroyed most of the town and left only a handful of buildings standing.
Records show that the fire was started by a misfired musket during a military inspection, and the wayward shot set fire to one of the many thatched roofs in the town. Strong stormy winds on the day whipped up the flames, and within the space of about four hours the town was mostly destroyed.
The handful of buildings that survived included Dunfermline Abbey and Abbot House - both of which survive today in all their glory - and are both featured in two of my travel posters.
Dunfermline was eventually rebuilt thanks to donations from many parishes across Scotland, and a large personal donation from the then Prince Charles (later to become King Charles I) who was born in the town.

During a gorgeous walk along the Water of Leith, Edinburgh this afternoon, I thought I’d capture in real life my Dean Village poster design (second image).
OK, so the sun wasn’t shining as much, but I think I got pretty close 😬
No, I’m not going to say it. 🤐😬

Both are magnificent structures, and worthy of their heritage status.

A little stroll around Kinghorn, Fife this afternoon, between rain showers. I tried to recreate my Kinghorn travel poster (2nd and 3rd slides) but missed the London-bound train by a minute.
Trying to recreate (in some pretty poor light conditions) a couple of my Newcastle Quayside posters the other day, on a visit to the Newcastle area - swipe to see.

Which is your favourite colour?
Pink, blue, green or red?
This was yesterday evening after a day of torrential rain.
A rainbow at the end of the day would’ve been nice, but the Millennium Bridge over the River Tyne was doing its very best to add a bit colour to a miserable day 🌈
No, this isn’t a giant suspended Easter egg, but the historic mooring buoy that’s situated on the banks of the river Forth at Bo’ness, Scotland.
The buoy is approximately 200 years old, and was designed by the famous Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It was retrieved from the harbour and restored a few years ago.
And this unusual installation is the subject of my newest poster print (second image). This, and many other poster prints can be found on my website and also on my Etsy shop (links in bio).
Happy Easter everyone! 🥚🐣

One of two of the Royal Navy’s largest vessels - HMS Queen Elizabeth docked at Rosyth on the river Forth earlier today. The aircraft carrier is there having a repair done to its propeller.
There were quite a lot of police cars in the area keeping an eye on things. So if for some reason you need a police response in this part of Fife while the carrier is here, don’t hold your breath.
Newark, Newark. So good they named it twice.
So who’s been watching the series on BBC2?
I wonder what the folk of Newark think about it? 🤔
BTW, my original poster of Newark on Trent is available from my Etsy shop (link in bio).

I’ve gone all primary colours with my newest poster design. This is my original design of a colourful Anstruther, Fife.
