Yet again reminded what an impact we as coaches have on little people’s lives! The park is right next to the courts, so this lovely girl showed me her notebook as I popped off court!

All mini sessions end in dodgeball, children run across the court whilst we roll balls to tag them. I ask questions so they don’t all run at once and crash! Against my better judgement today, a five year old child asked if they could call out a question:
Child: run if you have a hamster called Rocket.
Child playing dodgeball: I don’t anymore, it’s dead.
Child: run if you no longer have a hamster…
I had to look at the floor for quite sometime to compose myself.

It’s Saturday night and one of my coaching friend’s has texted me to ask, how often do/should players split step? We are having a lovely discussion.

Child: It’s my birthday today.
Me: Happy birthday, how old are you?
Child: Four and a half.

Each Thursday I treat myself to an hour of hitting with a mate in between lessons, today a group of ladies I teach were on the court next door. When one left, she approached me (not sure she’s watched me play before) to tell me I play tennis like a man! 😂💪🏻 Definitely meant as a compliment. 😊

During a tennis lesson, the children were excitedly talking about the Dick Whittington panto they were seeing with school tomorrow. One child asked if I could go with them, I politely declined saying I had to work. She then asked, oh that’s a shame, what is your job? 😂😂😂

Sometimes I forget what an impression we make on the children we teach. This absolutely makes my day - a time consuming pic and handmade bracelet. 🥰

It’s officially the end of the summer holidays. Thought I’d share my favourite camp photo. I am renowned for not doing up my shoes for coaching, so had 6 year old twins take pity on me. 🥰

This is what a ”day off” looks like. 😂 Four restrings so far, one regripped, lots of emails and a bit of planning!

Best ever rebooking email? Made me chuckle.

Brilliant conversation with my older teens in their session today.

Me: Hope everyone has water today as it’s hot and not all of you had water last week.

Teen A, who forgot last week: 2000 years ago we wouldn’t have worried about needing water when it’s hot, we would have just had to cope.

Me, joking: Maybe water wasn’t even invented then...

Teen B: They hadn’t invented gravity either so we would have just drunk directly from the clouds.
