Freedom and independence is part of the way we live. It's what we are used to, and it's what makes us happy πŸ˜„

If someone is involved in an accident and suffers an ABI, their lifestyle can change and their independence can become more limited. There is, however, a solution to this.

At Breathe, our supported living and high standards of support are focused around giving as much freedom and independence.

At Breathe, our philosophy is that well-trained supportive staff is key to delivering strong, positive and independent outcomes for our clients. By developing the skills of our staff in areas that are person-centred, we are able to help our clients grow in confidence and increase their sense of belonging and independence.

Key to our approach is having strong leadership and expertise in what we do, and the flexibility to adapt our staffing to each individual care plan. Our MDT team brings together a wide range of specialities to deliver an effective & best-in-class service - whether that's with the support of a social integration worker, nursing assistant or therapist.

It's time to meet another member of our team, and today it's Zaf, our head of operations.

We asked Zaf to put together some wording on his experience, and why he is passionate about Breathe and making a difference. Here's what he says:

"The challenge quite often felt by families, in particular, the emotional rollercoaster with trying to find the right fit for your loved one is one that I am familiar with. I have seen my own family members bounce around various care provisions,

I always felt there was something missing in the design of the β€˜care packages’, and it was an obvious one to me – choice. Where was that space for the individual – the person behind the care plan or assessment. What kind of space did they want to live in? What did it look and feel like? Where was it? Why were certain groups of people that may have shared similar diagnoses lumped together – as if somehow sharing the same diagnosis meant they should all reside together.

And that’s where it began, I found my calling in care – well to be more precise to provide the accommodation and mirror that with the right team, ethos and culture that allows people to prosper and feel at home. How they define that space, and what it looks and feels like is their choice. My goal was to create the environment that allows people the choice to make those decisions".
