How many dresses is too many dresses?🤔

But seriously, I’m not expecting anyone to buy all of the dresses on my website (as nice as that would be💰) but this just shows howwww much money can be saved by shopping second hand🤷‍♀️

The most colourful post on your feed today🌈

We have launched 21 new items as part of our latest homeware drop, Colourful Home.

These are my personal favourites☀️

One of the best parts of this business is going out and hand selecting each piece. I don’t buy in bulk, I take the time to find the best pieces that I think (and hope) you will love.

I love when a collection comes together🌸💙🌼☘️🍊

Myth busting: You have to change the way you shop to shop second-hand🧚‍♀️

This person has or will feel guilt if they choose not to shop second-hand. Firstly, no one should feel guilt for choosing not to shop second-hand. I wonder why they feel guilt?🤔

Secondly, this consumer sees ‘regular’ shopping and second hand shopping as two very different things and second-hand shopping would be a jump outside of their comfort zone.

Their incentive to leave their comfort zone is financial but if second-hand shopping and ‘regular’ shopping weren’t all that different then would they be more likely to shop second-hand even if they were made of money?

And here lies the problem ❌

How people shop second-hand should be more aligned to what those who don’t currently shop second-hand are used to. Because why would someone who has shopped on the high-street or online their whole lives suddenly start 50p bin diving at the charity shop or be getting up at 5am to go to car boot sales?

The expectation of the consumer needs to be realistic and such a huge shift in their shopping methods is highly unlikely🤷🏼‍♀️.

We want more people to shop second-hand without having to change their shopping habits so they can enjoy the huge savings on offer and reduce their impact on the environment, whether that be their incentive or not.

Myth busting: The terminology🦄

At the end of last year I did a survey on attitudes towards shopping secondhand. The sample size was small but those who did respond had plenty to say about ‘preloved.’

Generally the reponses show an understanding of what ‘preloved’ actually means in relation to secondhand but there was some variance in whether they saw ‘preloved’ as a positive or negative term. Are consumers confused by ‘preloved?’🤔

For me, I prefer the term ‘preloved’ as I think it sounds more appealing than ‘second-hand’ but I tend to swap between the two.

Understanding what a retailer/online marketplace or reseller means when they talk about ‘preloved’ and ‘second-hand’ goes a long way when deciding whether second-hand shopping is for you.

‘Preloved’ or ‘second-hand’, which do you prefer?💭

Myth busting: Second-hand is dull, boring, old and fuddy duddy🌚

This is definitely one of the more backwards myths about shopping second-hand, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

Bold and colourful second-hand clothing and home decor is all around 🌈🦄✨👛💐🌸🍬🍭🛼🛍️🪅

Often second-hand items have made their way from the retailer to previous owners into the hands of a second-hand retailer, charity shop or reseller.

The good clothes and home decor aren’t reserved for the retailer and those who want to pay full price🤷🏼‍♀️

Cushion covers are the most replaced item in the home because often they are low cost, available in abundance and easy to change.

But there is no need to bin your cushion covers‼️

Instead, you could...

☀️Turn them into something else like a pet bed
☀️Fold them away in case you want to swap back to them in the future
☀️Find a use for them in another room
☀️Use our Get Rid service and get paid

Changing up your cushion covers is a great way to breathe new life into a room but don’t fall for fast homewares. Instead choose an affordable, unique alternative💖
