We had fantastic weather for our Raise Your Ride event from Bransons Motorcycles Yeovil on Saturday with all teams enjoying the Dorset coastal roads.

Our next event is on the 13th July from Fowlers Motorcycles with final preparations being made. However there is still time to book a place if you are interested, just email us from our web page www.raiseyorride.co.uk

Our first visit to the Bike nights at The Lime Kiln Inn last night and the weather was great. Great to meet new people as well as old friends with some lovely machines to look at including 2 pristine GT750's.

Warmer weather is around the corner (we hope!) and brighter days often come hand in hand with an increase in two-wheel traffic on our roads. 🏍️

Last week, the Roads Policing Unit attended a host of events, educating motorcyclists on road safety and promoting the Raise Your Ride initiative. Our officers were present at:

➡️ Ashcott Inn bike night (Bridgwater) – Wednesday 5 June
➡️ Weston bike night (WsM) – Thursday 6 June
➡️ Fowlers bike night (Bristol) – Friday 7 June

We were also invited to an employees’ event at Airbus in Bristol to talk about commuter safety, including Fatal Five prevention and roadworthiness of vehicles. Collaborating with organisations allows us to spread our message as widely as possible.

Cyclists and motorcyclists are among our most vulnerable road users, with motorcyclists representing almost a quarter of fatal and serious injury collisions in the UK.

Avon and Somerset is no different – since the beginning of 2023, we’ve attended 19 fatal RTCs with 21 motorcyclist lives lost.

Our team were at the 1st Langport Bike Night of the year & we were blessed with a lovely sunny spring evening. A great turnout with a wide variety of machines to admire. Plenty of interesting conversations and good food supplied by the host Bere Cider Company

Another successful Biker Down UK course yesterday held at Peasedown St John cricket club for members of the Bristol banshees, Waggoneers MCC, The Brothers MCC & Hartcliffe MC organised by Kim.

What a brilliant weekend we had at the Bristol Classic Bike Shows event in the Bath & West show ground. Our team from Somerset Road Safety Avon and Somerset Police & Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spoke to hundreds of people over the weekend discussing Raise Your Ride, BikeSafe Biker Down UK Biker Down Devon & Somerset & IAM RoadSmart courses which are available across the region with some committing fully on the day.
Lots of interest shown in our Helite UK Moto air vest and we were able to send people along to Lee from Helite for a demonstration.

The range of classic bikes on display was fantastic and it was the stuff dreams are made of (if you are into bikes).
