****How to choose a Personal Trainer****

It’s that time of year I receive a flurry of email enquiries, and very often the only thing I’m asked is “what’s your pricing?”.

It’s a fair question but... I’d encourage prospective clients to dig a little deeper… (and I don’t necessarily mean into your pocket!).

Meet a few PTs face to face, or chat on the phone. Ask them questions and find out their coaching style/methods. Make sure you click with them as a person and trust them and their knowledge. Ask how they keep up to date. Have a look round where they work. Ask to speak to their clients for references. Maybe even trial a few one-off sessions with different trainers first, before deciding which will likely work best for you.

Getting a Personal Trainer is a big investment and you want to make sure you are getting real value, rather than just the cheapest deal.

There is literally nothing more deserving of investment than your health.

Hello Royston!

Can I tell you what I love about my job?

Making people happy.

I love that clients come to a session feeling tired and a bit ‘meh’ and within an hour we have totally changed the day. They leave with a smile and a spring in their step because they feel energised, another step closer to their goal, and more free and agile in body, mind and spirit.

I’m a one-to-one Personal Trainer who trains men and women of all ages and abilities to reach their individual goals, whatever they may be. Some clients want to get stronger, some want to lose weight or feel healthier, some want to run marathons or cycle sportives, others simply want to move freely without pain or restriction. I take great care to tailor sessions to suit each individual client’s body, needs and goals. Honestly, it’s a passion!

Such a stunning coastal trail yesterday along the Jurassic coast in Dorset. Ridonkulously muddy (“technically challenging” some might say!) Everything was going against the weekend getaway in the run up - covid uncertainties, injury, accommodation, weather... - but so much is to be gained from committing and pushing on through!

I meant to join the Royston Runners virtual parkrun at 9am this morning. I was slow to get in gear and to be honest felt pretty unmotivated this morning. (Yes, it’s not just you!). I was still in my PJs at 10am and could easily have sat down with a coffee and beat myself up about not having gone. Instead I got my kit on and agreed with myself to just go for a gentle 10k flat plod.
It was glorious!!

Gratitude helps us to feel more positive emotions, improve our health, deal with adversity, relish good experiences and build strong relationships.
In such difficult times, with, sadly, way more challenging times ahead of us, I spent today's run thinking about how much I have to be grateful for. And no matter how sh*tty things get over the next few months, we must always try to dig deep to find things to be grateful for, because, thankfully(!!) there always will be something. Today, I am thankful for:
- being free and able to run and breathe the fresh air
- being able to eat together as a family because daddy's working from home!
- the amount of support being offered on the internet to bewildered, soon to be homeschooling parents like myself... PE sessions, art classes, dance & drama classes, and a whole range of educational resources
- the NHS and everyone in it
- the camaraderie of friends (and strangers)
- that the threat of the virus is lower for children
- my amazing friends and family (ALWAYS!)
- and so, so much more......

Let me hear some of the things you're grateful for right now.... :)

Just been for a run around the Heath. Best thing for the body, mind and spirit right now. I really encourage you to do the same... or go for a walk or cycle ride.... get out and breathe the fresh air because you can. Keep your social distance, but keep the world turning by smiling and wishing people well as you go!
