We know the new XL Bully law will be causing worry and uncertainty to our clients who own them. So, let’s talk…

Q: When does the law come into effect?
A: Breeding, selling, advertising, rehoming, abandoning, and allowing an XL Bully dog to stray will be illegal from 31st December 2023.

Q: What else changes after 31st December 2023?
A: Your dog must be muzzled and kept on a lead in public, microchipped and neutering planned and booked by June or December 2024 depending on the age of your dog (check government guidance). You will also need insurance against them injuring people or property.

Q: What about the February deadline?
A: It will be illegal to own an XL Bully dog if you haven’t registered them on the Index of Exempted Dogs from 1st February 2024.

Q: What are the consequences of not abiding by the laws?
A: Owners without a Certificate of Exemption face a criminal record and an unlimited fine if they are found to be in possession of an XL Bully type, and their dog could be seized.

Where - Selkirk rugby club

When - Sunday the 27th August @ 2pm

We have some amazing local business joining us, they will have stalls set up inside the club - We have everything from the amazing Mykiss Dog Treats Tablet Galore Arthurshiel Rescue Centre Flower Expressions also available will be children's books, home decor, Pet photography, face painting & hair-braiding, crafts, cake stalls, beauty, candles & wax melts and much more! There's literally something for everyone.

We will have a raffle with some amazing prizes from hair and beauty vouchers, holistic massage, vehicle valeting, dog grooming, pet holidays, boiler service, bakers vouchers, skincare, haircare, hats and gloves, handbags Rugs & runners . .. enough alcohol to open a pub and lots lots more!

We cannot stress how grateful we are to every single person and business that have donated to this cause. ❤️

There will be rosettes and prizes for 1st-4th in each round of our dog show and a trophy for best in show 🐾🌟

Remember there's free tea coffee & scones for everyone attending. The bar inside the club will also be open for refreshments 🌟❤️

We really really hope to see you all there so we can smash our target and raise as much awareness as possible for this horrendous disease that robs us of our fathers, brothers, sons and friends every day.
