This cool little dude came in for a 10 day residential puppy plan.
Our residential helps get your puppy off to the best start. People are so busy these days finding the time to cover everything can be a challenge.
Our package covers:
- Toilet training
- Crate training
- introduction to lead walking
- introduction to recall
- Socialisation with people
- Socialisation with other dogs (ours and in public)
- Environmental socialisation (Shops, cafes, loud noises)
- Promoting calm behaviour
This little guy also suffered terrible travel sickness and we found the solutions to that right away.
Every case is different and each owner has different expectations. Our handover process covers off the structures in place and we schedule a 4 week follow up to pick up the behaviour and build on our obedience training skills.
Can’t wait to see him, always hard handing them back to the owner when they’re such a good fit wi the our dogs 🥲
First time I’ve considered a doodle 🐶🐩
We are proud to be exhibiting next week at the 100th Annual Southport Flower Show.
We have a range of new Zen K9 treats to support your nutrition and training goals. Alongside our own products we have amazing products from JR and Anco.
Come along and pop over with your furry friends for a treat.
Happy to chat about training, behaviour, nutrition also.
Southport has had a shocking week. From the awful events at the dance class at the start of the week to the implosion and rioting it’s been a very challenging times for our residents.
Some of our clients have been so badly affected it’s heartbreaking.
This grief being hijacked by racists and anarchy is not what the families need or want. Our community has shown how strong, caring and resilient it is. How tolerant, and compassionate toward those that are now being targeted. People should not now be living in fear of opening their shop/takeaway, going to work or school.
I don’t know what the solution to asylum seeking is, but I do know the solution to hatred fueled by jumping the gun and believing fake news. That is imprisonment.
The families involved on Monday are constantly in our thoughts.
We would also request if you are a client and are supportive of the riots and events after this tragedy that you discontinue our services.
Wishing the families the best to get through this terrible time.
Please support a go fund me for one of the families or the hospitals that have been on the front line. And let’s not let the aftermath define us as a town.
Sunrise on my girls 💖🦊😍
Dograssic Adventure Park 🤩
Thursday was a Behavioural Consultation with a previous client. Forest is a gorgeous BorderDoodle and since his puppy classes has come back with some reactivity.
Our assessment is in depth, covering:
- Nutrition
- Routines
- Training
- Education on causes of reactivity
- Handling skills
- Advocacy
- The roles of hormones, and olfactory sense
And much more.
We complete our behavioural report and training plan, leave with homework and plan the follow up.
Forest has great owners who are committed to helping him, and will be keeping me updated between sessions.
The real work starts next time once they’ve practiced their handling we bring in the stooges, he doesn’t like German Shepherds, I’m sure Storm will change his mind 😂😂

Practice makes Progress.
Today we had a brilliant training session with .dogtrainer at
Storm really showed up for me. Last time she saw Ola it was in a new environment at the start of her training, whilst we also had a highly strung dog boarding with us. So to say Storm was uncomfortable was an understatement. It was like she forgot the basics including taking a simple jump in a straight line. This is understandable.
Today we were in a familiar location, close to home, and she has since competed in various locations, some NFC rounds, all ran for fun and experience, no pressure. The difference in a few months was so noticeable.
She was enjoying herself and understands how to gain her reinforcement. She was comfortable and happy, and receptive to learning and trying new things.
She is so different to Neo, and her criteria are also different which challenges me as a trainer and as their handler/co-pilot. We will never be perfect but that’s not our goal.
We want to be the best team we can be, and for that, Practice makes Progress.
Every rep and reward builds a positive history and piggy bank of reward that we can withdraw from.
What have you done today to add value to your piggy bank? 🐷🏦
Storm pictured in a down stay, causally ignoring everything around her 💖 such a sweet girl.
Today we met an owner and their nervous/shy 7 month old pup.
Despite trying to advocate for the pup they were practically ambushed from every side with people ignoring their requests to leave the dog alone as he’s nervous.
People should not have to label their dog to reinforce what they are literally spelling out to people. The pup was trying to back away, hide behind the owners, and they ended up with no option but to leave as every angle they had outstretched hands trying to pet, greet and to offer a sniff 🫣
These guys were doing a great job, getting the dog around people, being comfortable in the environment, but couldn’t ultimately succeed due to the people around them.
When someone tells you to leave their dog alone. Leave it.
When someone tells you their dog is nervous. Don’t think you’re some guru that will cure it.
Don’t greet dogs especially a nervous or reactive dog with an outstretched hand. You’re asking to be bitten.
Don’t kneel down and stare face on. You’re confronting the nervous dog (any dog) and creating further pressure and potential conflict.
For help with nervous and reactive dogs, or help preparing for dealing with idiots that won’t listen to you, drop us a DM
Storm had an amazing weekend at Pure Pride Agility show.
It was her first KC show, jumping full height and also her first full agility course run.
We are way behind on training her weaves due to the awful weather and not being able to find an indoor training venue. However she gave them a go, and weaves aside she blasted everything with vigour and I couldn’t be more proud.
Right now our focus is her energy, enthusiasm and ensuring she doesn’t 💩in the ring 😂 so to have 6 runs over 2 days, I could not be anymore proud of her.
As Susan Garrett says “our dogs are always doing the best they can, with the training we’ve given them, in the environment we’ve put them in.”
Storm certainly delivered on her part. Now it’s up to me to help her grow and develop into the amazing dog she has the potential to become.
She does so much, and is also an amazing stooge dog for our reactivity cases, such a sweet special girl with everything to give. I’m so lucky to have her 💖🐶
Neo on the other hand ran like he was on L*D and did his own courses half the time. At least he had fun and entertained the judges 🙈🤣
Today we are at Market in New Longton Village Hall.
For a lovely day supporting local producers and crafters come along. Loads of amazing baked goods, farmers, and hand made products.
We are inside with our new and existing ranges of treats plus our new range of Lickimat products.
New cheese bones and liver bone treat are going down a storm 🐶🦊

Complex behaviour problems?
- resource guarding
- separation anxiety
- reactivity or perceived aggression
Dog training from obedience to agility and scent detection.
We are here to coach and support not only your dogs skills but your ability to work with your dog as a team.
Many “behaviourists” will charge you hundreds of pounds to then leave you with an academic report and to then fend for yourself and find a trainer for ongoing help. When you choose Zen K9 we are with you every step of the way. If something is super complex that requires specific help or more time we have a talented network of colleagues we refer to so you’re never stuck or waiting for an appointment.
Dog training isn’t always a linear process and sometime the steps you have to put in place require some work on your side. It remember the behaviours you’re dealing with didn’t happen over night. So the solution won’t always be resolved with a tool or quick fix.
For more information get in touch today and we can get you the help you need to tire your dog, train them in a variety of disciplines or modify behaviours.
Enya warming up her podium 😂 she has big dreams 🦊
These are not bones
They are made of rubbish, I don’t mind my dogs getting things like this very rarely (as I like a McDonald’s) but you have to either supervise or know if your dog is a chewer or will chomp and swallow. These are soft NOT a bone by any stretch
Well Enya says it’s official, she is the cutest puppy in the whole world 🥰🦊 her ribbon says so

Fear not, Enya has intensely quality controlled all the goods 🦊🔥🤣
Here she is demolishing, I mean chewing a buffalo tendon 🦷🪥
Let’s talk place training 🦊
We a huge advocates of our dogs understanding where their calm place is. Today Enya at 4 months old is spending the day show in and it’s important she knows where she can chill and where she should be when we are talking to customers.
She is next to a lot of tempting treats, toys and distractions. Noises, music, people, dogs.
Once you build value in place training, it’s then important to generalise the behaviour in all environments.
Do you have a “place” cue for your dog. (Doesn’t have to be place)
Why do you have it?
Why do you not?
Perfect for the cafe, pub, friends houses etc
Also a great skill and trick to show off when you can send your dog to their place from 30m away 🥳🔥🦊
Not just treats, we have our last 3 Roolo toys from
The Roolo has revolutionised play time, tying nose work and reward in a unique way that truly tires your dog mentally.

During very hot weather, it’s important to take special care of your dog to ensure their well-being. Here are some tips on what you can do to keep your dog safe and comfortable:
1. Provide plenty of water: Make sure your dog has access to fresh and cool water at all times. Consider adding ice cubes to their water bowl to keep it cool for longer.
2. Provide shade: Create a shaded area for your dog to relax in, either indoors or outdoors. You can use a canopy, umbrella, or a shaded spot under a tree.
3. Limit exercise: Avoid exercising your dog during the hottest parts of the day. Instead, take them for walks early in the morning or late in the evening when the temperature is cooler.
4. Avoid hot surfaces: Pavement, asphalt, and sand can get extremely hot and can burn your dog’s paws. Stick to grassy areas or walk your dog on shaded paths.
5. Keep indoor environment cool: Use fans or air conditioning to keep the indoor environment cool. Make sure your dog has access to well-ventilated areas.
6. Watch for signs of overheating: Dogs can easily overheat, leading to heatstroke. Watch for signs such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, seek veterinary help immediately.
7. Provide cooling aids: Use cooling mats, wet towels, or shallow pools for your dog to lie on or play in. You can also freeze treats or toys for them to enjoy.
Remember, each dog is different, and some breeds are more susceptible to heat than others. If you have any concerns about your dog’s well-being in hot weather, consult with your veterinarian for personalized advice.
If your dog shows signs of heat strokes DO NOT over or give ice. They need veterinary attention, and gentle cooling. Not extreme cooling.
