A Happy Accident... Featuring a hole in the ceiling...
Today’s post is an ode to those little things that go wrong but turn out even better than planned...
We had our kitchen lighting installed today above our island and when taking the pendants out of the box, noticed a huge crack in the middle one. Annoyingly, replacing one pendant wasn’t possible, as they’re sold as a trio only BUT they did sell a single pendant in the same range, which was a slightly different shape. We went for the single pendant, swapped out the middle light and have saved the light fitting to upgrade another fixture somewhere else in the house 💡
In the end, the light looks even better than having the three matching pendants and we’re chuffed with how its turned out! 💃
Next is patching up the hole in the ceiling where the old light was and then we’re ready for the grand reveal of our kitchen reno! 🛠️
Stay tuned...👀
Spot the difference...👀
We’ve been super quiet on our socials recently because our Lundy Close reno is well underway! It’s been a full on 4 months since moving in but we’ve loved every second of being in our element of designing, DIY’ing and doing all things home improvement 🛠️
We’re days away from completing our kitchen revamp and can’t wait to reveal the end result... In the meantime, we thought we’d share a smaller project...
We used vinyl window stickers from to create a faux stained glass affect on the landing and have since had friends and family comment that they didn’t remember the house having stained glass... So we’ll take that as a sign that it looks pretty realistic! Which is just another affirmation that you don’t need to spend a fortune to achieve the look and feel you want 🏡

KITCHEN UPDATE...
🛠️🛠️🛠️
We’re slowly getting there with our kitchen renovation and getting so excited to have it all finished 🙈
So far, we’ve taken out the old peninsula and the huge sideboard and replaced with shallower cabinetry more suited to the floorplan. We’ve also added more cabinets throughout, a dishwasher, a new cooker, painted the outdated tiles and replaced the worktops, sink and tap. It’s been a lot of work but is already feeling like a whole new space 🤩
We have our island arriving next week, new flooring installation and plans to get the walls and woodwork painted, so we’re nearly there 💃
Stay tuned for the end result.. and swipe for before 👀
Spring has officially sprung...
☀️☀️☀️
And we’re kicking off the sunny season by getting stuck into our back garden revamp 🌱
There’s still plenty to do here, but we’re chuffed with the progress so far and looking forward to having the first BBQ of many in our little sun trap 🌞
Next up is to paint the fencing, replace the floor slates, add some more garden furniture and of course plenty more plants 🌱

Trust the process...
For any successful project – preparation is key. We’ve recently been taking on our new Nest HQ kitchen renovation and getting so excited to showcase the finished product... For now, here’s a snap shot of a sample board we created for the project...👀
We’ve opted for olive green cabinets, oak flooring, marble worktops and brass finishings, paired with neutral walls as the perfect backdrop to a statement kitchen 🛠️
We’ll be sharing some progress pictures very soon and can’t wait to get the project wrapped up... Watch this space...👀
Spot the difference…👀
This week we’ve been working on our bathroom revamp - we got rid of the carpet, laid new vinyl flooring and covered the dated tiles with some olive green panelling 💃
Covering the tiles, rather than removing them and needing to re-plaster saved loads of money and looks so much better than before.. plus we could use the old carpet as a template for the sheet vinyl, saving us more as we could fit ourselves 🛠️
Bring on the next project! 🏡

Feeling the heat..
🔥🔥🔥
After moving into our new Nest HQ, we didn’t wait long to get stuck into the reno! And first up was the dated electric fireplace...
Initially wanting to put in a real log burner was proving expensive and not meeting the area’s ‘clean air’ code, so we opted to keep the electric heater but modernised it with a fresh coat of paint, some self adhesive tiles and an electric log burner from Duplex 💃
Now it’s the cosiest spot in the house, as approved by the lovely George 🐶

New year, new nest 🏡
After a year of trying to buy / sell, a million fall throughs and a whole lot of heartbreak, Charlotte and Jorge are finally in their new home / Nest HQ 💃
We can’t wait to get started on all the renovation projects and sharing them along the way, so stay tuned 👀
Empty Nesting…
The last photos taken of our first home are bitter sweet… it’s been a year in the making, with so many ups and downs and we’re finally in the new home stretch 🤩
We’re missing our Nest HQ already but super excited to get the keys to our next project 💃 we’re hoping to be in very soon, so watch this space for new home spam and lots of renovations 👀
#2024
A fresh start...
We’re kicking 2024 off with some big news... We officially moved out of our Nest HQ over Christmas 🎄
It was a grueling job, especially over the festive period, but well worth it! We’re now due to pick up the keys to our new nest any day now and can’t wait to get started on our new project 🛠️
So stay tuned for lots of renovating, updating and DIY’ing…
Happy new year everyone! 🥰
Our highlight of 2023...
This year was a big one for us at Nest, with plenty of projects, wonderful opportunities and some amazing memories. So it seemed fitting to reflect on our favourite venture of the year (before the Christmas spam begins!) 🎄
And our 2023 highlight has to be our feature in Home Style Magazine. 📖 It was such a lovely day having our kitchen reno photographed by and what a fab job they did! 🤩 They absolutely captured the essence of the space and we were chuffed to have our project shared with all of Home Style’s subscribers 💃
What’s your highlight of 2023?...👀
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!...
🎈🎈🎈
It’s officially been 2 years since we started Nest and what a ride its been!
In our first couple of years: we’ve worked on multiple residential and commercial projects, supported friends and family on their interior quests, created many bespoke art pieces, had our kitchen reno featured on both official Instagram page and in and still have the enquiries coming in 💃
It’s been a total rollercoaster and we couldn’t have done it without all of your support, so a massive thank you from all of us at Nest 💕
Bring on the next 2 years...✨
Meet the team...
Meet Jorge - our founder Charlotte’s partner and all round support system.. Travelling with us on site visits, holding the measuring tape and climbing through piles of debris to make sure we get the perfect photographs of the spaces we’re designing 🛠
A business analyst by day and a huge support to the whole Nest team the rest of the time ✨
Thanks Jorge for all your support! Don’t know what we’d do without you 💕
A concrete idea...
🛠🛠🛠
This week we’re throwing it back to our commercial project for in Dewsbury 🐣
Our client wanted their restaurant to mirror its industrial surroundings and compliment the traditional building it sits within. So we wanted to create a unique feature wall for their signature sign to sit on ✨
We used concrete and layered it up to create an industrial textured effect, perfectly highlighted by the industrial lighting we installed in front of it 💡

From deep purple to soothing sage...
🌱🌱🌱
Our clients wanted to turn their master bedroom into a soothing sanctuary, with a nature inspired feature wall 🌱
We stripped the purple and went for a sage green paint before adding this wonderful wallpaper ✨
Next up was swapping out the hard wooden floors for luxurious carpet, as our clients felt the room was too cold. And we finished off the space with new furniture throughout. Now this room feels lighter, brighter and much more of a sleep haven 🌙

The Devils in the Details...
Over at Nest, we’re big believers in no detail being too small. We find that it’s often the finer details that bring the most joy within interior spaces and make them function more smoothly ✨
From apron hanging rails, wacky art prints and even down to pots and pans, it all adds up to create a cohesive space designed for you 🍋
What’s the smallest thing you’ve added to a space that’s given the biggest reward? 👀

There’s nothing quite like progress...
We’ve been lagging on our socials over the past few weeks (sorry!) – we’ve been working on a few projects back to back and can’t wait to share them with you soon...👀
In other news, our founder and head interior designer has gone and graduated as a Master of Arts in Interior Design! 🎓 Charlotte has studied her MA part time for the past two years, on top of working full time and running Nest, so it’s a huge relief for her to have finally crossed the finish line! 💃
Now with a masters in hand, she can’t wait to turn her focus to taking on even more exciting Nest projects... Stay tuned 👀
✨MEET THE TEAM✨
Meet Charlotte – our founder and interior designer. Charlotte studied Fine Art at university, before falling into the Events industry post studies, all the while wanting to get back to creating 🎨 And after buying and renovating her first home in 2020, she discovered her love for interior design. From here, Charlotte went back to uni to study a masters degree in interior design and created Nest ✨
Charlotte is definitely a perfectionist but has a knack for focusing on the finer details... Much to our construction team’s dismay... 🙈😂
Now, after several projects, both in her own nest and our clients, Charlotte continues to grow the business 🛠
So watch this space for lots more projects, interior tips and tricks and updates from the whole Nest team...
Restoration to Restaurant...
🛠🛠🛠
We FINALLY took a trip to gather final photos of our Chicken Shop Project and we’re chuffed with how it turned out! 💃
This space was completely derelict and now is a thriving business selling the most delicious chicken 🐣

The Happy Couple...
Another bespoke artwork from us and this one was even more special, as was for our lovely friends on their wedding day 💍
We created a hand drawn sketch of the gazebo they got married within and added a personal touch to mark the occasion ✨
We hope your marriage is as wonderful as you both! 💕
The Power of Panelling...
🛠🛠🛠
We often get asked how to add character to new build homes. We find that clients tend to be cautious of going traditional in these spaces, as they’re so shiny and new and we don’t blame them! So a simple board and batten wall panelling is the perfect way to add narrative to a new build...✨
Panelling adds texture to a space and breaks up vast blank walls to add a touch of character and charm, just as we did in our new build living room project. Now the space feels less show home and more ‘our home’ for our clients 🏡

💡HOW TO BRING WARMTH INTO DARK INTERIOR SPACES💡1) Add pattern and texture – This can be done through wallpaper, tiles and even textured flooring 2) Hang some colourful art prints to stand out against a dark wall
3) Use statement mirrors to bounce light around a room
4) Decorate with plenty of house plants - these bring some life, colour and texture into a room 🌱5) Use artificial lighting with warm bulbs - this creates a cosier glow6) Candles! Candles! Candles! - the obvious go to for creating ambience7) Don’t underestimate the impact of soft furnishings - these create a homey feel and can soften a dark, dramatic space These tips and tricks will help bring your dark interiors some warmth and keep them feeling snug, just as we did in our moody bathroom transformation...

Small changes, big difference...
🌙🌙🌙
This bedroom transformation is proof that a little change can make a big difference, without breaking the bank...
We painted the entire space in ‘Treron’ by updated the window treatments, swapped out the outdated furniture with new and functional pieces, replaced the light fixtures and filled with décor and houseplants 🌱
With no major structural changes, we spent around £1000 on revamping this space and it feels like a totally different room! ✨

From deep purple to soothing green...
🎨🎨🎨
The owners of this house wanted to revamp their eccentric purple bedroom left from the previous owners, to a more neutral space that matched their minimal style 🏡 They still wanted to incorporate some colour and pattern but create a calming space, so we ditched the purple and opted for a neutral sage green, with a bold wallpaper highlighting their accent wall 🌱
It was also crucial that they had carpet throughout, as they were keen to keep the room feeling warm and cosy. So a grey carpet was added to bring another touch of luxury to this master bedroom 🌙

Guest room ready...
Our team is passionate about creating spaces that make our clients feel at home, and it’s just as important that our client’s guests feel at home too! We put a lot of thought into the design of this guest bedroom, as we do with all our spaces, and we’re chuffed with how it turned out! ✨
Now our client’s can welcome guests into their very own ‘home away from home’ 🏡

Moving into Minimalism...
✨✨✨
A minimal hallway is a great way to create a sense of peace and tranquillity in your home. With a few simple design choices, you can create a hallway that is both stylish and functional...
Top tips:
-Choose a neutral colour scheme
-Use simple furniture and accessories
-Add pops of colour with artwork or plants
-Keep the hallway clutter-free
And voila!... a minimal hallway that you'll love coming home to 🏡
Here comes the sun...
🌞🌞🌞
June is the perfect month to enjoy a sunny day in a colourful kitchen...
Why not brighten up your cabinets with a splash of paint, like we did in our Yellow Kitchen Renovation?
We spruced up this space with a couple tins of paint and a LOT of patience, but was well worth it! ✨
Now the entire space sings, especially when the sun is shining 🌞

Astronaut in the making...
🚀🚀🚀
We love creating custom artwork for our littlest clients... 🥰 This nursery artwork was the final addition to baby Tommy’s Space themed nursery and we hope it can feature in his room for years to come 🌙
Tommy’s parents wanted something that he wouldn’t grow out of too quickly and that would fit in with the other moons and stars in his nursery ✨ So we painted Tommy’s horoscope, with some other galaxy inspired touches to create this bespoke piece 🎨
Welcome to the world, little one! 🐣
Teal’ing it...
We’re slowly calming ourselves down after the excitement of our magazine feature and thought we’d pay homage to what was on the other side of the camera... Our Nest HQ living space is where we step away from the screens and take a time out from design projects. It’s one of our favourite transformations to date and we’re still in love with our velvet teal sofas! 🌊
We love the way teal sofas can transform a living room. They can make a small space feel larger and brighter, which is exactly what they did for our Nest HQ living space ✨

Top tips for styling a teal sofa:
-Pair it with neutrals for a classic look
-Add texture with pillows and throws
No matter how you style it, a teal sofa is sure to make a statement! 💃
