The floor was certainly a walk in the Parquet!
Quite a transformation from the 30+ year old cork tiles that were there before!
We have made this simple change in our own home for a very independent toddler, who was getting very annoyed that he could turn the old taps on himself.
These new ¼turn lever taps mean he can do it all by himself!
Always good to think of the little people.
(The hot water in our house is set up to be warm, so no scoulding risks. Alternatively you can install a thermostatic mixing valve meaning that the water will only get to a set maximum temperature)
The was spotted whilst working hard in Frome and subsequently shared on Miniworld Magazine!
We're grateful to motoring writer Mike Renaut for sending us this photo of a hard-working 1981 Mini Van that he spotted earlier today. We love seeing Mini commercials still in regular use. If you've got one of your own, be sure to post a pic below!
A little summary of the week, certainly a mixture with some jobs shown!
At the start of the week we added some decorative trim to these plain bathroom units (11 individual panels in total)
Next on the list, we had the task of laying reclaimed Victorian tiles onto this fireplace hearth, cutting around the iron fireplace pattern and placing the soot damaged tiles under the fire basket to help give the impression they have always been there. (As the tiles are around 150 years old, they were extremely brittle, so a lot of care was taken).
Third we had a lovely new black vertical blind to install and a replacement gate.
Lastly, we had an emergency call out to a puddle of water in the kitchen, coming from the sink. Further investigating showed that the leak was coming from a pipe in the wall. New pipe installed with the correct protective sleeving.
(The house is over 400years old, and this particular wall was over 700mm thick!)
Oh and one last item, the had its MOT and passed. I put this down to the keen maintenance completed by the young apprentice!
Something a little different to start the week.
Lovely reclaimed Victorian Tiles to add a great feature to this lobby area.
A lovely new combined basin and toilet unit installed, to provide more storage space in this bathroom.
I had a little helper tightening the trap and quality checking!
A day of handling doors!
These lovely oak finished doors are certainly to be adored on this landing (and they are extremely heavy!)
The polished handles and latches add a lovely finishing touch
We had some help cleaning the from all the dirt over the past couple of weeks of bad weather!
He certainly did a good job!
A fantastic fence to start the week. A fairly steep incline with a large amount of rubble and old rubbish from the 60s/70s removed.
Also thanks to
A nice new laminate floor for this kitchen/diner! It is certainly bright with the sun reflecting off of it all day!
Laminate Floor: Quick-Step Eligna Wenge Passionata EL1300
I really enjoyed designing and making this railway totem themed wedding present for two wonderful people who got married last week! I love you
We managed to just about dodge the rain in this lovely British Summer to install a lovely new Featheredge fence, along with a small hardstanding and trellis.
A bank holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity to carry out some maintenance on the
These rear subframe mounts were just a little worn!
Oh, and of course a little help from the Handy Son on this one, never too early to start passing the 5/8" spanner!
We had great fun removing a rotten deck earlier this week and then building a lovely new one with balustrades and a gate!
This is now summer ready, and more importantly child and pet proof!
Something a little different to end the week. Bespoke storage units for a VW Caravelle when it is being used for camping.
Two sliding drawers with locking runners. (The left stores a cadac cooker, which when the drawer is extended can be used for cooking)
One empty compartment for boxes.
When not being used as part of a camping trip all three boxes can be removed.
An evening spent toiling with the engine, a suspected blown head gasket between cylinders confirmed by compression test.
New gasket and back up to something respectable.
Poorly handyvan, rescued by the absolute brilliant Richard from and towed home.
Fun evening and weekend ahead!
A nice way to finish the day by the seaside!
A nice way to spend a warm Friday, painting this lovely little summer house.
Brand: Cuprinol Shades
Colour: Willow
We had the absolute delight to paint this wonderful Wiltshire thatched cottage.
The white paint is super bright whether there is sun or not. The windows have been sanded painted black with a Satin Finish.
A privilege to be part of this cottage's history.
So what do you do when you give yourself a week off? You of course do more handyman work, but this time on our lovely 1972 Commer PB. A lot of recycled and upcycled materials in this, so I hope the rustic look is palatable (as a lot of pallets went into making this).
By no means complete, but we are well on the way to hopefully enjoying some summer fun in this!
Check back over the coming weeks for more progress!
A little bit of tiling to start the week. They look like they have always been there.
Matrix Bone Matt Tiles, with Gunmetal Grout and Light Grey Trim.
Back to some painting this week, and thanks to the nice early April sunshine, I was able to paint the exterior of this bungalow.
A couple of areas of render repair before being painted with Bedec, the colour is Alpine, which gives a cool and crisp finish.
Brake Disc and Pad change. Fair to say the old ones had certainly come to the end of their life!
We had this VW T5 Caravelle in for a rear bumper change, as the old one certainly has seen better days!
New bumper fitted and sprayed in Raven Blue to match the rest of the bodywork. Reflectors, parking sensors and mud flaps all transferred over from the old bumper.
A little bit of Jet Washing from yesterday. Amazing difference!
Lovely job from last week. A new dividing wall has been installed with pocket doors to divide and maximise the space of a large 'L' shape room, this now creates two separate spaces, a nursery and a master bedroom. Future flexibility could also see the nursery turned into a walk in wardrobe!
Pocket door system used: Henderson Pocket Door PDK3 1-Door Sliding Track System Silver 1449mm with 2 additional rollers.
A lovely bathroom refresh, new tiles, new bath panels and not to forget the addition of a rainfall shower!
This white kitchen tiling really brightens up the room. The small square tiles also help to make the space feel bigger.
Lovely Kitchen Sink Replacement.
Out with the Stainless Steel and in with the Black Composite 1.5 sink.
