Its incredibly common to feel shame and guilt after eating something considered 'off limits' when you have set yourself diet rules to follow.

Sadly this way of thinking has been linked to higher incidences of binge eating and yo-yo dieting.

The good news is that one cookie by itself does not ruin a diet. In fact, the ability to enjoy a cookie guilt-free, account for its calories, and move on is an important life skill for maintaining a healthy social life, avoid food obsessions, and enjoy a high quality of life. ⁣

A little bit of 'junk food', consumed in moderation in the context of an otherwise nutrient-dense diet will not negatively impact your health. Cut yourself some slack and allow yourself to indulge every now and then!
