We've been busy with a bunch of non AWMC music projects but have still found a wee bit 'o time to work on a new funk EP. New first track now on Soundcloud...

Actually managed to get the fabulous Dave Hibbert on guitar for this one - adding some much need geetar funk chops. Proper nawtee innit!

Most of these are driven by new free & cheap plug-in releases such as the fabulous free LABS series from Spitfire Audio...

It's no secret we love a good xmas freebie & Arturia [one of our fave virtual instrument makers] has created some crackers in the past.

Well - this year is no exception... They've taken the slightly mental filter section from their Korg MS-20 model & made this doozy.

Chock full of mental mosh mashing & lots of fab audio mangling it's already a fave after 5 mins of messing around. Tasty.

Going a bit Blue Peter & getting a bit artsy & crafty today: Doing some print testing with plastic free CD packaging...

We love a good freebie & NATIVE INSTRUMENTS have come up trumps with this fascinating new free Kontakt 7 synth - Hypha.

Initial impressions from a quick play are very good. It's a bit of a beast with lots of options for morphing & mangling the sounds.

Love the way the 'Vibrato' / modulation works on some of the presets...

So those wonderful people at Arturia have made our crimbo once again with another cracking freebie. This time it's based on the legenday Mellotron.

But being calm & responsible folk we're not going to rush in all giddy & breathless and download it are we? Yeah right...

Why's it taking so long? Are we there yet? Etc...

We've just finished work on the second track 'Dance For The Busy'' for our next mini album 'Dancing And Desolation'.

The track needed some original 'vintage' tones so we blew the virtual dust off some lesser used Arturia plug-ins: Solina, Wurli & Synthi. These 3 produced some cracking sounds & tones... love 'em!!!

This track was a real labour of love & made use of some of our favourite virtual instruments from Arturia, Spitfire Audio & Roland. Spitfire's free LABS series instruments were particularly useful for haunting & evocative sounds.

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS tabla from their India plug in came in pretty handy too, along with Garritan's GPO choir & the fab Steinberg Retrologue...

It's kind of a 'penknife' plugin: A valve power amp emulation that has uses far beyond giving guitar tracks some mojo.
