Finding You, Coaching
Coaching bridges the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it!
IPHM Registered Therapist | Accredited Sober Coach
I'll help you to stop struggling with alcohol by shifting your mindset so you can reclaim your life and finally be free from the alcohol trap.
Really want to share this because it's changed everything this week for someone who's been struggling for years to stop drinking.
If your goal has always been to stop drinking alcohol, but you never seem to be able to achieve your goal - change your goal!
Is a more important and motivating goal to stay in a relationship, keep your job, your driving licence, your family? - then make that your goal and think about how stopping drinking is an action step towards achieving your goal.

This is *the* most powerful and important lesson I've learned on my sobriety journey. I learned it, worked on understanding it, then applied it and hey presto - IT WORKS!
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroanatomist and author stated, "When a person has a reaction to something in their environment, there's a 90-second chemical process that happens in the body; after that, any remaining emotional response is just the person choosing to stay in that emotional loop."
As grey area drinkers, when weโre quitting drinking, or even after we have been alcohol free for a period of time, we might encounter a triggering event that makes us feel a certain way.
This is completely normal and is simply a chemical reaction in your body, that typically lasts for about 90 seconds.
After this initial period, the lingering emotional response is often a result of our thoughts and interpretations of the event rather than the actual physiological reaction.
In other words, we have the choice to either continue dwelling on the emotion or let it pass.
By incorporating the idea of the 90-second pause into our daily lives, we can cultivate a greater sense of emotional resilience and well-being.

Feeling more motivated, less busy, kids go back to school or after the weekend, so-and-so's birthday or work's night out are not reasons to wait to stop drinking, they're excuses.
Waiting for life to be perfect before you start is like waiting for a boat at the airport - it'll never happen.
Start by believing you already have the power within you to take back control and create the life you want - on your own terms!
Thereโs no time better than now to make positive changes for yourself and your future.
Embrace Sobriety - Create a happier, healthier you.

First week of ? How's your motivation?
It's 100% normal for your brain to be having a wee temper tantrum at this point - throwing thoughts at you right-left-and centre, about why not drinking for a month is not such a great idea.
Remind yourself why you started - health, mental clarity, giving your body a break.
Then plan on what you're going to do today to not drink - just one thing.
It could be as simple as not going to the shop today or pouring that half bottle of wine (that's been sitting in the fridge since Sunday) down the sink.
Whatever it is, have just one action step that'll help you feel empowered and keep you moving forward towards your goal.
You got this!
Are you hoping for the best and just 'winging' it or have you put some thought into how you're going to achieve your goal of not drinking this weekend?
If you're serious about making it happen, you have to think ahead and plan how you're going to navigate triggers, situation, people and of course your sub-conscious brain.

Are you adjusting your goals to fit around your drinking habits?
Or changing your drinking habits to achieve your goals?
Even if you don't agree with setting goals, we all have things in our life that we want to work towards.
Outcomes, results, goals - whatever you prefer to call them.
You might have found yourself hoping to achieve something in life, but have given up or changed the goal to accommodate your drinking habits.

Practice re-focusing on what you truly want, ask yourself if drinking is going to get in the way of you achieving it.
It doesn't have to be complicated. In fact the simpler the better. If you''re working on changing your relationship with alcohol, simply taking a pause, noticing how you're feeling, your environment, who's around you will start interrupt the thought pattern that's been taking you down the path you want to get off.
Harmony Balance Peace
Three things most of us want more of in our lives.
One thing you can do to help bring more of these into your life is to remove alcohol.

Iโve never heard anyone say that life has gotten more chaotic since stopping drinking โ never.
If youโre longing for that sense of well-being, without using alcohol to shut off the drama and chaos in your life, but your scared of letting go of your โbest friendโ,
Book a powerful coaching session to help you remove your fears and end your struggle with alcohol once and for all.

Imagine that you're worried about going to social events because youโre not drinking?
I understand that fear โ itโs one of the reasons it took me so long to finally quit drinking for good. It turns out most of the fear is simply a (BS) story we create in our own minds.
What Iโve found (and many others will backed up my claim) is that no-one really gives a flying monkeys bottom if youโre drinking or not!!
That being said, I also know that me simply telling you this, probably wonโt be enough to ease your fears and switch off that chatter in your brain.
The Sober in the City and Shire support group is a safe space for anyone whoโs sober or sober curious and committed to improving their health and well-being by stopping drinking.
There are lots of benefits of coming along to a group like this โ youโll find 7 of them here www.findingyoucoaching.co.uk/sitcas
Itโs a place where you can start to practice talking about your decision not to drink with a group of people who will help you navigate your social gatherings feeling much more confident and at ease.
The result is that slowly and surely you get more comfortable talking about your choice and you donโt feel so isolated or suffer from FOMO.
Join us on Saturday at The Counselling Space in Aberdeen at 10.30am and start learning how to conquer those social events like a pro!

At our meet ups youโll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with like-minded folk who understand and support your decision to not drink alcohol. These lasting connections provide a strong support system that can help you navigate the challenges of sobriety. By surrounding yourself with people who share similar experiences and goals youโll find a sense of belonging and community that can make your journey to sobriety more fulfilling.
How many suspect choices do you make when youโve been drinking that youโd never make sober?
The accumulative effect of doing this over and over again is that you start to doubt ANY decision you make. You never seem to make good decisions, youโre completely confused. Itโs easier to stop making your own decisions and just let yourself be carried along on the back of everyone elseโs.
It could be that you blow all your hard work in one night after a bottle of red with a take-away at 2am on the way home from the pub, or it could be that you put yourself in a dangerous situation and sleep with someone you just met.
As well as alcohol drowning out the voice of your intuition telling you NOT to do something, it can also mask the same voice that tells us that we are destined for a brighter more joyful life โ if we would just get out of our own way and let the universe show us how.
Whether you have recently quit the booze, been sober for a while or are just curious about how different your life might be sans sauvignon โ this workshop is for you!
Youโll learn how to tune into your natural intuition and instinctively know if your choices and decisions are moving you forward or holding you back from your true potential.
