It’s with a heavy heart that we had to say farewell to our handsome boy Gelert as he passed away at home.

Our loyal, brave and loving whippet was such a joy enriching our lives and it was a pleasure to have him by my side - both on the sofa and as a valuable member of the Amarok pack.

After 17yrs of enjoying the company of our beautiful, unique and irreplaceable Melyn, Ellis and Gelert - our 🐾 pack - it is very strange feeling as we face an end of an era with them - it’s very quiet without the paw prints or greets with a wagging tail.
We will miss the happiness they brought but be thankful for the fabulous memories - such good dogs.
Hopefully ’Swarve Marve’ with be reunited with his collies and zooming around together 💗

We were so fortunate to find our beautiful, loyal, dependable & happy companion enriching our lives during the last 15 1/2 years, but sadly we had to make the hardest decision to say goodbye to our courageous Ellis ‘The Smuggler’ last week.

Until the very last moment she was always keen to go on a walk, be with her family and sniff out her treats but unfortunately her sarcoma infection caused her pain we couldn’t resolve for her. She passed away peacefully under a willow tree with her head in my hands.

Not only was she an invaluable Amarok Pack member, with the incredible ability to calm and command respect around a room full of dogs with her energy and stance alone, but she was my gentle, confident shadow and best friend always looking out for me and my girls.

We are truly gutted & will very much miss her beautiful character- one of a kind - but are so lucky to have lovely memories to treasure.

Settling into some lovely walks whilst we take our break. Refreshing walk along the miles of beachfront today. Plenty of sniffing to be had for my two whilst we take in the view.

Amarok Update:

Due to our family commitments and illness in the family, Amarok has made the sad decision to have a break from our services and will be moving out of the area next week as we have finally found a rental which allows dogs as we have not been successful in finding a new forever home as of yet.

I shall be disappointed to be leaving the area and not being able to care for our best friends but am grateful for your custom and for being able to spend time with your dog.

Amarok Dog walk services will continue until Laura has a break on 12th Dec.

⚠️ Will ice kill my pet?

It's that time again! Each year, owners are warned that ice is dangerous for pets, but this isn't true. As long as your pet is not suffering from heatstroke, ice cubes can be a great cooling treat for cats and dogs.

Ice cubes can be used in your pet's water bowl to keep them cool, put on tiles or lino for your pet to chase, or add in something tasty then freeze and pop a couple in a food bowl for your pet to lick. 🧊

These 2 have welcomed boarders into their pack for 12yrs so I always ensure they have their time out from ‘work’ too 🐾🐶

In addition to the events shown on the poster, the Fairy Trail will be in place in the Woods, Leah (Rainbow Leader) will be creating a QR scavenger hunt in the woodland and the newly surfaced/created woodland paths will be completed!

What to do if you suspect your dog has been bitten by an adder:

- take your dog to the vet
- call ahead so they can get the anti-venom ready (if needed)
- carry your dog if possible to reduce the spread of the venom through the bloodstream
- bathe the wound in cold water to reduce swelling

Do you know the signs to look out for to understand when your dog is feeling stressed? 🐶

Dogs can find a lot of different situations stressful for lots of reasons, and some owners often don’t realise their dog is unhappy until they growl, snap or even bite. But, most of the time our furry friends do give a lot of warning signs long before this happens. ⚠️

These signs of how a dog reacts to something that worries them can be thought of as a series of steps on a ladder! 🐾 No two dogs are the same, so they won't always use all these behaviours or follow the steps exactly. If the warning signs have been missed by us before, your dog may miss a couple of the lower steps and jump higher up the ladder instead. Use the ladder to help you understand what our dogs are trying to tell us 🐶📢
