In the 1960s and 70s I began selling my work through an agent in Chelsea, much of which went to American collectors. I am an exhibiting member of the Welland Valley Arts Society and Rutland Open Studios. Past exhibitions have been at Sands Gallery in Harrogate, and more recently at the Strand Gallery in Aldeburgh.
The paint is barely dry on my latest painting of yellow snowdrops!
I love such bold, spiky plants as they're quite easy to look after. These are exuberantly growing in Virginia Woolf's greenhouse in Rodmell, Sussex - I just had to paint them.
What a wonderful day at Kew Gardens. So impressed with the intricate patterns of growth and the ingenious ways plants adapt to the environment. Stunned by the sheer variety of leaf forms and the scale from minuscule to majestic. Wow!
My latest painting is a tranquil view of Laxton village green in early morning November sunlight. I just love our rural haven.
Sold on Christmas Eve!
My latest painting is of Virginia Woolf’s garden in the rural haven of Rodmell, Sussex. This section has been turned into thriving community allotments. Such a tranquil place.
The view from my window overlooking our village green.
This gorgeous golden morning light is just begging me to paint it.
Just one day left for Rutland Open Studios this weekend. This is a painting of a glorious vegetable plot at Barnsdale Gardens. You’re very welcome to pop over to Laxton and take a peek at my work tomorrow between 12-4 pm.
I’ve just put up my exhibition in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre. Come along and see it anytime throughout December!
Here's the latest painting straight from my easel - all ready for a new exhibition. It's on throughout the whole of December in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre. It's an idyllic view of Harringworth Viaduct on a brilliantly sunny day in August. I do hope you like it.
A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.
They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.
May you be so fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you.
And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude 🙏
'Turn of the Tide' is a view of one of my most favourite places - Mousehole in Cornwall. My latest painting will be on display in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre throughout December. Do come along and visit!

Three of my paintings sold yesterday, which I'm very pleased about as I need the space to hang my recently finished ones. Here's the latest - rose hips and mistletoe in a lovely antique mug. It's called 'The Running of the Deer' - I hope you like it!
'Jewel Garden' is my latest my latest painting, depicting the riot of colour in my garden during Autumn. I'm just potty about plants and whenever people visit my studio, they ask to look around the garden too. I'm always out in the garden whatever the time of year, but don't pick the flowers - I'd rather see them growing!

I’ve combined my two favourite pursuits by painting
a section of my garden. Taking centre stage are vivid red Crocosmia, dazzling yellow Inula and vibrant pink Lychnis.
It will be on view at my studio for the next 3 weekends, as part of Rutland Open Studios. Find me in the brochure!
'Stamford - the sunny side of the street' is my latest oil painting. It's a view of St Mary's Street looking down from the Arts Centre. on a scorching hot day.. I love Stamford's architecture, but haven't painted a townscape before as it's quite a challenge, especially when the canvas in only 12" square. I'll be exhibiting it at my studio during Rutland Open Studios next month. 😎
Staithes is one of my all-time favourite places - a jumble of fishermen' cottages perched on a steep hillside. The colours have been altered to represent a sultry hot summer evening. Let's all bask in the sunshine!
Girl with Green Eyes Is the daughter of one of my students, which was painted and sold some while ago. I try to keep a visual record of my work but I couldn't find a photo of this particular one. At last she's been found!
I've called this Cabbage Calvalcade, inspired by the glorious vegetables growing in Barnsdale Gardens. The masses of bright marigolds among the cabbages were a just joy to behold.
"Chinatown' - just finished yesterday. My studio is too cold to use at this time of year, so it was painted in my kitchen instead. At 70 square centimetres it took up rather a lot of room - now I can get back to cooking!
'Bloomsbury Blues' sold last weekend. I just had to paint Virginia Woolf's lovely house in Sussex, to capture the tranquil atmosphere.
My studio is open this weekend as part of Rutland Open Studios. You're very welcome to visit!
