On the lookout for your next big adventure?
Following the success of our original Explorer unit and due to demand, we have now opened second, brand-new Explorer unit….. Diplodocus Explorers! 🦕⚜️
And we’re on the look out for more young adventurers and enthusiastic adults’ volunteers to get involved, and we’d for love that to be you!
Explorer Scouts (boys and girls aged 14-17) is all about encouraging local teens to try more, see more and do more.
Providing them with the chance to dream big, gain new skills and achieve things they never through possible, all whilst making lifelong memories and friends along the way.
Explorer Scout Imogen says, “When I’m having a bad day, I can still come to Explorers, have fun and be myself.”
And there already exiting plans in the works for the coming months, from taskmaster challenges, orienteering and a district camp, to ready steady cook, financial skills and WAFFLES! 🧇🏕
Lead Volunteer James says, “As an explorer leader, it's all about working on those skills that come in handy later in life, organising yourself and being able to work well in a team. When they come to us at 13, and you see them leaving as an adult having achieved so much and come so far, it's really rewarding.”
So why wouldn’t you want to get involved?

Announcing the launch of our new Lowry website
We are very excited to announce the launch of our newly designed website. Visit us at www.lowrydistrict.org.uk. After many months of hard work and dedication, we are delighted to officially announce the website is live. We wanted to make the new website easier to navigate, more user-friendly, and have a great new look.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE NEW WEBSITE?
Our goal with this new website is to provide our visitors with an easier way to find out more information about Scouting in Lowry. The new website gives better access to:
• who we are in the About Us section
• what it means to Become a Scout and how to join
• how to Volunteer with Us including vacancies currently available
• key policies and links to OSM and Compass
We are working with the developers to create a dedicated Members Area for access to forms and calendar of events.
Amongst the new features the site contains integrated social media buttons for Facebook and Twitter to foster improved communications in our local community. We will regularly update our content on all platforms with helpful information and announcements.
Another key feature of the site is its responsive design meaning that it responds to the device it’s being used on and resizes accordingly. This will enable you to access information on the go much more easily than before, on your mobile or tablet as well as your computer.
Please use the contact form on the website if you have any questions or would like further information. https://www.lowrydistrict.org.uk/contact
We may not be visible at parades today, this year we have to pay our respect differently
At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.
We can't think of a better first post than a Thank You to all of our Volunteers across Lowry. You really do make a difference!
