Looking After Your Feet During Menopause

As I’m in the throws of it myself I though I’d spread the knowledge of looking after your feet during this rollercoaster time of it ❤️

Is there a link between the menopause and foot pain?

Yes - absolutely.

During the menopause oestrogen and progesterone production decreases and this leads to changes in the ligaments, muscles and tendons which can lead to skin damage and problems with healing.

Add to this an increase in weight, which is commonly associated with the menopause, and it becomes very important to not only manage symptoms, but to make sure you see a professional to help look after your feet.

And that’s where I step in 😀

February is Raynaud’s awareness month!

Reynaud’s is probably more common than you think; it’s estimated to affect more than 20% of the world’s adult population or around 10 million people in the UK alone.

Common symptoms of Reynaud’s include tingling, numbness or pins and needles in the fingers or toes, pain or extremities turning white or even blue.

Reynaud’s isn’t just being cold! It is a circulation issue and your toes/fingers may change colour not only due to cold, but when you’re feeling anxious or stressed.

So what should you do?

1. Try to keep warm.
2. Exercise regularly, if you are able, as this can assist your circulation.
3. Try to be mindful of your stress levels, take time out for yourself and relax

Today, on 5th July, the NHS will mark 74 years of service. For this amazing milestone I would like to take the opportunity to join in and celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions.

It has been an extremely tough time for the NHS over the last few years and, although in parts of the UK we are still not out of the woods yet, today is an opportunity to appreciate the vital role the service plays in our lives.
Let's recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out.
