*BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT IN DAYBROOK*

I'm honoured to be attending and speaking at the Celebrating Black History Month event hosted by the Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Daybrook. As your Gedling Borough Councillor for the Daybrook ward, I understand the importance of celebrating diversity and history. Black History Month is a crucial time to reflect on the rich contributions and achievements of the Black community. I'm looking forward to supporting this event and discussing why Black History Month is so significant. Together, let's celebrate the culture, heritage, and achievements of Black individuals in Nottinghamshire and across the UK.

Thank you to County Councillor Michelle Welsh for supporting this event with her County Council community fund. ๐Ÿ™

**DAYBROOK COUNCILLOR OBJECTION TO ERNEHALE LODGE CONVERSION TO 30 ROOM HMO**

I wanted to let residents know that I have formally objected to planning application reference: 2023/0605, regarding the proposed change of use of Ernehale Lodge Nursing Home from a care home to a 30 bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO). The site just sits within the Redhill ward but the proposed changes will indeed impact on the Daybrook ward and surrounding residents.

โžก๏ธParking in particular at this location is already a concern and with only eight parking places available at Ernehale Lodge, there is definitely not adequate parking to accommodate a 30 bedroom HMO. Nottinghamshire County Council as the Highways Authority will already be aware of the parking challenges at this location. I do hope the County Council has visited this location and properly assessed the surrounding area from a Highways perspective before giving a view.

โžก๏ธThe application does not adequately address waste management concerns. An increase in residents without proper provisions for waste disposal could result in increased litter and waste-related issues in the vicinity. Iโ€™m not convinced by the applicants approach to this.

โžก๏ธ The conversion to a HMO will lead to an increase in population density in the area, potentially contributing to anti-social behaviour issues. Without proper safeguards in place, this could have a detrimental effect on the community's safety and well-being. The applicant suggests these things can be managed, but it is not clear how.

โžก๏ธErnehale Lodge Nursing Home is currently registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for 30 residents with nursing care requirements. The proposed change of use will result in a loss of specialised care facilities for vulnerable members of our community.

I will continue to push for this application to be refused as the proposals are clearly unacceptable for this site.
