HGV Driving Specialist
Saving fuel and increasing the lifespan of HGVs whilst promoting better driver retention.
Many thanks to and the team at WS Transport Tankers for their business and support as I deliver both classroom and on-road CPC training for their drivers.
Am off today and needed to put our garden waste bin out this morning.
your driver of VN16OYS and his team were most helpful.
The driver waved at my one year old daughter I was carrying and beeped the horn too; she loved it!
Just baked a sourdough loaf and will be nice to have when out on the road/training next week 🤤
Driver assessment day.
This driver has come from the tipper world but it’s still important to see who will be in your driver’s seat.
I can spot a bad driver within seconds and even with the most determined hoodwinker, the mask soon slips.
Apart from the craft of the truck on and off the road, the driver needs to know how the office, yard and app operate.
They business is confident they’re getting a good driver and the driver is confident the job is for them.
Win Win.
A bit of distance today for the driver.
44T and a lot of hill work from Wiltshire to Herefordshire; not much motorway work.
We’ll return empty but it matters not as my training applies to all aspects of driving - even if there are large amounts of pto work, such as this.
This driver gets 7 hours CPC training and keeps his employers’ promises to their customers.
Warranties appear not to be given much priority in this workshop.
I’ve seen this image posted on a few different platforms.
Not the case with me at the front.
My CPC courses are of use to all drivers. My credibility, content and ability to communicate and deliver make the 7 hours gained 100% worthwhile.
CPC has a valuable place in the development today’s drivers.
I’ve sat through many courses where the content of worth could have been covered in 30 mins.
I’m changing that.

My CPC course is available in a 7 hour classroom format.
• I come to you, this course is offered nationwide.
• Targetted training that engages your team.
• A CPC course that educates your drivers.
I’ve listened to my customers and now offer this classroom course as a result of many requests.
This course is useful, interesting and I never have sleepers!

Got my hands on this today and tomorrow.
There’ll be a review on my YouTube channel soon.
The heavy rain yesterday should give this some challenges on site…..
If I worked for this company be sure to enunciate properly if calling a customer.
Saw this Scammell Constructor 30.30 in a landfill site yesterday.
What a bewt 💙
Tachograph training: manual entries.
x5 drivers fully trained on all models, in cab.
As my Dad said to me many years ago:
To hear is to forget.
To see us to remember.
To do is to understand.
First JAUPT audit complete and I’m very happy with the result ☺️
The auditor assess many courses and was so impressed by my unique 7 hours 💪🏼

Please can you provide more suitable facilities for drivers at your landfill site in Ware.
I’m don’t know how many drivers use this “toilet” but I’m presuming I entered an “insanitary condition” many times over.
I will save you and the viewers of this post any photos of the state of the facility.
* I was told that “no other toilets exit for drivers”.
Driver assessing is another service I offer:
• Suitability for the job
• Driving ability
• Vehicle management
• Safety
• Highway Code knowledge
• Tacho driving & WTD understanding
• Experience
All this whilst getting vehicle training - retrospective handover and requirements of the job.
A couple of days with an experienced member of the team for this new driver (whether new licence or just new to the business) is key in this industry.
Starting a new job can be intimidating and lack of experience can lead to mistakes. Errors in this industry can be severe so reducing the risk this way is an excellent step forward.
Made this butternut squash risotto last night.
Substituted a leek for the onion 🏴
It’s worth the effort so you can batch cook this - I have enough for a few meals next week when out on the road 🚛🤤

This driver’s acceleration profile and demeanour behind the wheel were excellent.
However, with some work and new techniques taught he was able to improve his scores on his 2018 Scania G280 6x2.
The output from that will be much improved mpg, care of his vehicle and much reduced break wear.
Training a night shift driver tonight.
Always buy the driver breakfast/lunch/dinner so was excited to get to McDonalds.
However, and don’t know how, I managed to exercise restraint and have large white coffee only.
Truck driving is largely a sedentary job so it’s worth keeping the bad stuff to treats only 🤤
Great to see a driver performing like this.
Driving techniques were excellent and the driver resets the score frequently.
There’s always room to learn:
Driver said the Next Gen Scania R450 was underpowered.
When full loaded the driver felt the vehicle lugged too low and “made a nasty noise”.
Upon investigation it was the exhaust brake snort between gears that the driver was unaware of.
Finally! A company that makes real coffee bags that actually make a decent coffee!
Proper coffee when away/on the road 🚛
Well done 👏🏼👏🏼
Training night drivers this week, and in a hotel not the usual choice of AirBnB.
No vehicles are stood idle when drivers train with S Clayton HGV.
No agency spend/potential risk whilst drivers learn (and they do learn - drivers always comment on the relevance and the fact they come away educated).
HGV and driver productivity are never affected.
I fit in with you: the day can be 7 hours to
15 hours.
Any day, any start time.
S Clayton HGV provides continued savings to help hauliers stay competitive as they invest in the proper education of HGV drivers.
Driver CPC query:
• Does your company pay for your CPC courses.
Or are you asked to pay your own way?
• Is your truck stood down when you train?
Or do they bring in agency drivers?
• If your employer pays are you asked to sit the course at the weekend?
Or take holiday for the privilege?
Pulled at the M1/A406 for a Commercial Vehicle Inspection.
It pays to do your checks; torque wrench check on all nuts and a full walk around this morning when it was -3.
On Thursday 02 Feb I entered 8 days on manual entries to cover me when I’ve been training. This was on top of 10 in my previous 28 days.
Tacho card was fault free.
The Met Police and DVSA officers were very friendly and professional 👏🏼
My CPC course doesn’t ask you drivers to work a Saturday or a day of your valuable holiday.
The truck keeps earning as you are learning.
A targeted, educational and cost-effective CPC course.

Please the the attached photos.
I block dozens of these a week (some maybe happy to accept to boost their numbers) but this is clearly spam and nothing I want anything to do with.
It can’t be hard to stop this repeated rubbish being sent to me, or are followers/following more important to you?
Back in the right hand side of a wagon today.
The enjoy the variety in this job and I don’t just mean the places or loads.
This 3-over-3 box is great ⚙️
