History and Symbolism behind Wreaths ..
A wreath signifies eternity, a circle which has no beginning or end..
Traditionally, wreathes were made of Bay, Laurel, Pine, Herbs and Flowers. Each had a specific meaning as a ritual or cherish symbol.
*Early Germanic cultures used a wreath table center and later added candles to the traditional Winter solstice evergreen circle. The wreath was a winter reminder that spring would return and the Earth would once more turn warm.
*The circle has numerous meanings..
~The eternal presence of God with no beginning and end.
~The cycle of seasons from Spring to Winter and back to Spring again.
~Life renewing itself
~Unending love
*Ancient Romans wore crowns of Laurel to denote power & were often donned by politicians and civil servants.
*Roman soldiers were bestowed wreaths of honour when they returned from battle.
*In Ancient Greece, the cherished prize for an orator & poet was a wreath. Olympic winners were also awarded a wreath.
*Ancient Egyptians sewed flowers onto strips of cloth forming head wreaths, often used to decorate statues of gods.

Odd time to tall Peonies but they are one of my favourites + you can dry them..
If you want to have a go next year...
The easiest and cheapest way is by air drying.. Hang them upside down in a dry, cool room with little or no sunlight.
🌿6 facts about Peonies from
1. Early in Chinese history, the peony was considered the national flower (it is now officially the plum blossom).
2. There are more than 6,500 varieties of peonies, with new ones being introduced all the time.
3. The peony is named after Paeon (also spelled Paean), who was a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing.
4. Studies have shown that peony plants have immune system and mood-boosting properties, and can be used to effectively treat inflammation, blood clots, and general pain. In fact, the roots and seeds of peonies have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to treat headaches, asthma, convulsions, liver disease, and several more ailments. Peonies also have been used in European herbal medicine as a remedy for bladder and kidney problems.
5. Peonies represent romance and love, and are considered a good omen for a happy marriage. Peonies are also the traditional flower for 12th wedding anniversaries. Interestingly, the flowers represented shame and shyness in the Victorian Era. In China and Japan, peonies stand for strong and positive virtues such as bravery, honor, respect, nobility, good fortune, and prosperity.
6.The Netherlands is the largest cut peony producer (over 40 percent of the estimated total worldwide production), but an up-and-coming source of peonies is (surprisingly) Alaska. The longer, cooler growing season there allows for larger blooms later in the growing season, according to the Alaska Peony Growers Association.

"Workshops 2021 season
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
The second instalment in my series to introduce you to each and every component of my forthcoming collaborative workshops with Sophie Last time I mentioned the source of the flowers from . This time I would like to introduce you to Andy - the talent behind the pot that you will take home. I commissioned Andy to make pots for you of a specific shape to show off the flowers that you will arrange with Sophie. He is making this particular shape especially for this workshop series and no more…
The workshops are loosely based on a theme called UNBOUND - you will be creating a loose airy and free arrangement in your pot - to celebrate our freedom after the last year.
More instalments to follow next week…
