This fabulously strong teal provides the perfect backdrop for the colours in this work.
Not being particular fans of hanging pictures on visible chains, as we feel that they can detract from the works, we were delighted by a recent visit to the , where the chains painted the same colour as the walls made them virtually unnoticeable. Brilliant!
The moon over the last couple of nights has been truly amazing.
A break from picture hanging for some unusual lamp sourcing for a client. We found these fabulous delicately carved wooden ones in auction.
When the children come back for the weekend… thought it made a good photo at least!

N.B. Helen Chislett (formerly London Connoisseur) now
Three years on from our article in the House & Home section of the FTWeekend and still receiving enquiries from it, proves that not only are its readers some of the most discerning, but their memory and filing system great! Also a brilliant writer.
We substituted the w/c ‘blue lady’ (in second image) for this heart, which not only created a fun and impacting entrance to the basement, but also a colour theme with the rest of the works, thus introducing a feeling of flow and calm.
New placement for the blue lady to follow!
Moving this work by from left of the fireplace (last image) to the blue walls of the landing, enabled it to really pop with much more breathing space.
The previous post also shows what we replaced it with and how we swapped the mirror, which we felt too small for the space, for the perfectly fitting Gillian Ayres!
In order to accommodate this collection of works we did a bit of rejigging, substituting the pair of either side of the fireplace (image 3) for the Gillian Ayres (1930-2018) (image 4), which gave a better balance to the room and a less linear feel, importantly also allowing the Howard Hodgkins more space to breathe. The last two images are the end result, in which, in addition, the floral still life reflects the lines in the glass screen!
The new placement of the Gillian Ayres to follow!…
A wonderful opportunity to place an amazing collection of works which we shall post over the next few weeks…
A handsome set of prints to brighten an entrance hall.
Dragonflies and bugs (etc!) on a beautiful bright green wall to mark the eventual beginning of summer, hopefully!
Notice the connection between the colours in the portrait on the end wall and those in the Swatch watch hanging in the foreground, also the desk chair!
A perfect spot within the shelving for this small work
Perfect piece for this space!

Reaching heights with a collage!
A beautiful warm tone of yellow for this lovely oil portrait to hang against.
A break from hammering to choose some frames for a client!
Here we substituted the oil painting (in second picture) for this gentle collage of watercolours and drawings - the oil, shown in a previous posting, holds its own over the fireplace. Hanging on panelling can be a challenge, so we hope that these last few postings show that, with careful planning, great results can be achieved!
Here we substituted the mirror and small pair of oils for this delightful collage of Persian works, in order to add elegance, light and a more cohesive feel to this end of the panelled room. We hung the pair of oils together on the end wall - scroll through to see the difference it has made.
Scroll through to see how we’ve made a huge difference by substituting the watercolour in the middle frame for the oil painting on this panelled fireplace
Perfect small spot for another set of miniatures, either side of the window.
A charming set of miniatures perfect for the space within this fabulous original panelling.
