easyJet has today announced the opening of a three-aircraft base here at London Southend next spring, making ours its 10th UK base.

The planned addition of more aircraft is enabling the airline to launch six new exciting routes to Pisa, Gran Canaria, Dalaman and Antalya, Marrakech as well as Enfidha in Tunisia. Departures will begin from 1 May 2025 – easyJet holidays will be on sale from tomorrow with flights on sale in the coming months. This will result in package holidays from London Southend being available seven days a week.

This expansion clearly demonstrates confidence in the resilient strength of demand for travel from people in the east of London, Essex and the wider East Anglia region. This news is testament to our award-winning, quick and easy terminal experience already enjoyed by easyJet passengers flying to popular beach and city destinations such as Amsterdam, Geneva, Faro, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Paris this summer.

Not only will this new base deliver both greater convenience and connectivity for [you/your] [stakeholders/customers/partners], this continued growth and investment from easyJet in London Southend will create around 130 direct – and supporting many more indirect – jobs. This news and other future potential capacity growth at London Southend will create hundreds more jobs at the airport over the coming years.

I can speak for nearly everyone when I say how valuable Hockley Woods is to our community and the climate. It’s always good when we hear funding is being made available for the upkeep of our open spaces and amenities. We are blessed to have our ancient woodlands, good for the soul and wellbeing, so long may our walks in the woods continue.
Great article Ben

As people are making their New Year’s Resolutions to get fit, our team is reminding gym members and staff that unwanted attention of any kind is unwelcome.

“People are just here to train,” says PC Mike Lee.

“It has been suggested that some gym members view harassment and unwanted attention when they are working out or attending exercise classes as ‘par for the course’ and it really shouldn’t be.

“No-one should be made to feel anxious in an exercise environment.

“To be fair, unwanted attention and harassment are not major issues in gyms but it can happen and, from conversations with gym staff, they are under-reported. Even one victim is one too many.”

Our Business Crime Team has produced posters for gyms which contain QR codes which can be scanned to link people to information on our website about stalking and harassment and how to report it.

“It helps if everyone knows what behaviour is and isn’t acceptable. Sometimes it can help people realise that when they thought they were trying to help with useful training tips, this attention was not welcomed by that person,” says Mike.

Gareth Heard is the group sports and community development manager of Fusion Lifestyle, which runs leisure centres and gyms for Rochford District Council.

He says: “It’s really important our facilities are accessible to all and we pledge to make sure people feel safe. We want the gyms we operate to be safe environments.

“Our gyms are safe places but I can understand that sometimes people can feel intimidated although we do our best to make sure they don’t.

“If someone does have an issue we have our own procedures. But people don’t always want to say something to staff so the posters allow them to get the information they need.”

More than 60 gyms and leisure centres across Essex already support our campaign. If you are a manager or a member of gym staff and want one of our business crime officers to visit you to talk to you about it, please contact [email protected]

I’ve never seen such a large bee in December. Looking like she was struggling, I researched what to do.🐝

A quick sugar-water fix

Bee Boost Elixir

1 part room temperature water (not boiled)
1 part sugar crystals (avoid brown sugar / honey)
Mix vigorously, then offer small portion
The first thing to do is to feed your bee. A cold, hungry bee is nothing to fear (in fact, bees are nothing to fear anyway, and you’re probably not too worried if you’re reading this page… but if you are, keep in mind that a cold sluggish bee is in no position or mood to sting… they’re simply hungry and cold, and will be happy for any help you provide)!

She reached out to my twig and grabbed hold while I moved her to safety.
