πŸ€©πŸ‘2024 Fundraising total so far stands at Β£6,050!!πŸ‘πŸ‘

This will be equally split between Joe Ellis Trust and Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW.

The years event has been amazing when you consider we only sold 23 pitches this year, half of our attendance in 2023, and the weather was the worst we have ever experienced at this event, at the height of Summer in July you wouldn`t expect constant wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph from Thursday to Sunday, rain for most of Friday, and the odd shower after that, so it was a challenge!

So, we need to say thank you to a lot of business`s that support this event , some of them you`ll not have seen or heard of but they are there every year ready to help us out and support us in the best possible way, this is their donation to the charities if you like, giving up their time and money to help us to help the charities that we support.
Firstly our two event sponsors, Lsu Hire and Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries, we certainly wouldn`t have got off the ground this year without the support of these guys, thank you so much.

Our hosts Ninham Country Holidays , as always a wonderful clean and well kept site with friendly and helpful staff.
Fat Shauns Outdoor Catering , what can we say, no one went hungry and the best menu at camp we`ve had so far, just amazing.
Coast and Country Marquees, thanks so much again to Callum and Keiran and the boys, and for coming to site withing half an hour of phoning on a very winding Thursday evening to make sure the marquee wasn`t going anywhere, top service thank youπŸ‘.
StageGear Rentals, new to summer camp and 🀩wow🀩 did we look professional with our stage, fabulous lights and sound system this year.πŸ‘πŸ‘.
Andy of ACMS Refridgeration.
Eves Teepees for the glamping tents.
NWVT.co.uk Professional Automotive Photography And Design, the amazing Nick who does so much for this event, we will all be packed away and back to normal and Nick will be sorting through some 4000 photographs, most of which will be available for you all to view and download in a couple of weeks time.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Our entertainment this year from, Brandon Ford , Huxley Hunt, and The Lazerhearts and Laura Robinson
And to the business`s old and new who donate items for our auction, Arty's at Clarence Marina , of Wight Distillery, Aiden of Isle of Flight Microlights , The157store ,, Di Brown , British Motor Show , the On The Edge Graphics , Wight Drone and The Tack Room IOW

Not forgetting all of our generous campers who donate items for the auction, and spend so much to sometimes even buy it back!!

Amazing event, here is a teaser photo from Nick Williams of a certain Steve Willson meeting our new Summer Camp sponsored Ability Dog, Willson.
πŸ’™Making a difference, no matter how big or small is what its all about.πŸ’™

IOW Summer Camp participants came together on Saturday to give a very special day out to some families associated with the Joe Ellis Trust and The Wight Brainy Bunch , and we would like to publicy thank some of the people and business`s who helped to make this happen.
With our drivers giving a door to door chauffeur service, our first stop was the The Fighting C***s in Arretton, manager Laura Jayne Swan and her team looked after us and ensured we were all fed with food and drinks all round for all 41 of us, and wouldnt take a penny for any of it, well done The Fighting C***s and thanks to owners Sam and Donna for supporting the event again this year your generosity and kindness is an example to all.
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Huxley Hunt arrived at the pub and entertained the children after dinner with his amazing tricks and banter, thank you so much for giving up your time again Hux, greatly appreciated.
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.

Our families were then taken to Medina Theatre where we had the front 2 rows booked out to enjoy the fabulous pantomime Snow White performed by the The Wight Strollers, if you`ve not got tickets yet, hurry up they are going fast! Special thanks to Emily Scotcher , the families loved the photos with the cast after the show.
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Our families were then chauffeured back home after what we hoped was an enjoyable day for them a chance to go out as a family, stress free.
Thanks to our event sponsors Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries and Wightlink in the Community .πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Charity Information.

We are proud to have raised over Β£87,000 over the last ten years, this includes 2 years on online auctions due to Covid causing us to cancel the event in 202 and 2021.

We support Island based children`s charities, to date these have included the YMCA Young Carers based at Shanklin, Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW , and the Joe Ellis Trust , and we also donate to a charity chosen each year by our host Ninham Country Holidays to date these have included, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, Sandown and Shanklin Youth Football Club, and the Firemans Benevolent Fund.

2024 will see us supporting the Ability Dogs 4 young people IOW and the Joe Ellis Trust, here`s some basic onformation on the work that they do.

Ability Dogs 4 Young People IOW;- as the name suggests they train and supply ability dogs for children with a variety of health conditions, from detecting anxiety, low blood sugar levels, they can even help with day to day chores of getting out of bed and getting dressed and going shopping!
Summer Camp has sponsored two ability dogs, our first was Trevor a chocolate Labrador who is now 5 years old and placed with a young boy who he is looking after like a parent!
Our second ability dog, a black Labrador called Tasmin was just 11 weeks old when we saw her at Summer Camp in 2022, she is growing up fast and is excelling in her training, our target is to sponsor our 3rd abilty dog in 2024, if we can raise enough money.

The Joe Ellis Trust;- helps island children who have cancer and their families in their time of need. The Trust was set up in loving memory of Joe Ellis, who died on 30/6/14 at the tender age of just 13years, after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer.
Joe`s family had raised so much money to help with vital treatment for Joe in the USA but it was to late to be able to do anything to help him, so Joe`s parents set up this charity to help other Island children and their families to help them when their world gets turned upside down and inside out.
Clive and Sue have worked closely with this charity over the years when organising Sporting Bears fundraising events and have seen first hand what a fantastic charity this is, no wages, every penny goes where its needed, to give a quick example a single mum who`s young son was diagnosed with cancer was in danger of loosing her home as she couldn`t work as her son needed full time care, the trust stepped in and covered her mortgage to enable her to focus on her son`s care.
With most cancer treatments being based in mainland hospitals, the trust offers vital help and support with travelling and accommodation, and also making sure the rest of the family is able to able to deal with the difficulties that life has thrown at them.

Regular summer campers get tother each year in February to give 4-5 families associated with the Joe Ellis Trust a day out as a family to remember, we collect them from their homes in a fleet of cars and take them to the Fighting C***s pub in Arreton when owners Sam and Donna Shaw make sure our guests are treated to whatever they like, they are also entertained by Huxley the magician, and then taken off to 1Leisure Medina Theatre to watch the pantomime performed by local production company The Wight Strollers, where have have the frnt rows booked out for our guests. At the end of the show the families get to meet the cast for photos before we taken them back home, and hope they have all had a good time, time to do something together as a family.
