The Upgraded Coach
A Coaching Programme Designed To Help Personal Trainer & Online Coaches Get Life-Changing Client Results, Financial Freedom And Meaning In Their Life.
Melanie’s experience with The Upgraded Coach 🏆
"the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character."
So how does anything pictured get your personality across?
You might post a pic of yogurts in your basket like some show off who's got the new PlayStation no ones saw cause you leave it up your grannies bit. Along with your motorbike and 4 birds.
Selfies hiding your face. Look, you're taking a selfie and posting it online. Might be a big deal for you. But if you're running a business, your face is the gateway to your personality. Imagine waiters served you at a restaurant with balaclavas on. Show your face more.
Speaking about other companies except your own. You might be low on confidence in selling or marketing your own product. That doesn't mean you hide behind your discount code for a big company. It won't give you experience. It will only make buyers more sceptical of you.
Does anyone have a reel on how to make a weetabix cheesecake? Or maybe even how to put two yogurts together to make a "rollo"? Come off it.
Your physique/workout videos. Your hard work displayed can show traits of your personality. But most coaches I know who post half-naked pics are the same ones who would be terrified to do a talking video to the camera. Which one do you think gets your personality across more?
I've said before, that your likeability is what will help you grow a business.
What are your quirks? What do you like and dislike? What inspires you? What makes you, you? What got you here? What made you become a coach? What's life like behind closed doors? What's your passion? etc etc.
Then just show it off.
It will attract a tribe of people just like you.
Sorry I lured you in with fashion and smiles.
But this is a serious post.
Sell > Over Deliver > Optimise For Profit.
In that order.
We are getting a lot of Top Table prospects on calls in similar situations.
They say things like :
“I just need better systems”
“I just need to fix my onboarding process”
“I need a better way of doing check-ins”
Listen, I love systems and automations. We give our coaches every system they’ll ever need when they join. Pre built and done for them. It’s called Systemize, it’s incredible.
But it’s not the first thing they need or the second.
For 6 years I used notes and pages on iPhone to delivery training plans, track sessions and create content.
Systems help you scale. You can’t scale something thats barely growing.
With the rise in fancier systems, it’s easy to get caught up on “which is best”
But here’s the facts. None of them will fix what you offer, the service you provide or the results you get.
Why? Because you need to make those things work first. And work well.
So let’s look at the order,
Sell - If you don’t sell, it’s doesn’t matter what systems you use because no on can use them.
Over deliver - if you don’t over deliver, clients won’t hang around, they won’t tell their friends and they won’t get results. The system that’s designed to streamline things won’t be tested as there’s not enough numbers.
Optimise for profit. This is when systems, staff, pricing models, outsourcing etc comes in to manage time vs earnings.
Most coaches have it backwards.
“How can I make this easier”
“How can I free up more of my time”
“How can I leverage this more”
Don’t ask those questions unless the business is thriving.
Until then. Deliver the results day in day out. Relentlessly.
The Team 🏆

John Eckbert.
I've been listening to a LOT of millionaires recently. I want to be one by this time next year.
John, The CEO of Five Guys in Europe was on a podcast explaining why Five Guys don't do marketing.
It suddenly dawned on me just how amazing it is to be a business owner right now.
You can listen to a multimillionaire chatting about business strategies at the click of a button for free.
We have an endless supply of tools to create the life we want.
However, information is one thing, doing is what makes the dreams a reality.
So I was inspired to make this post today and meet my ideal clients where they are.
And honestly, to give you that nudge.
If you read these images, ask yourself the question most relatable to you, then force an answer.
The answer might be a date. Whatever the answer, reverse engineer it, and work on it.
The time is now.
Drop me a message if you want to share your answer.
Have a cracking Friday!
Chris
What a day
What a team 🧡
Q3 Event in the bag!
Incredible day of networking with our top table clients.
Time for a pint 🍻
There's not much difference.
Between getting coaching clients results and getting fitness business owners results.
It all boils down to :
A Plan
Tools/Resources
Help/Support
They often take shape in a Coaching, Content, and Community sense.
Everyone in those pictures at some point tackled :
Lack of confidence
Lack of structure
Lack of guidance
Not guarding inputs
Lack of a support network
Lack of routine
Lack of experience
Lack of knowledge
Lack of courage
Lack of doing the fu***ng work
Broken environment
Comparison
Chasing shiny objects
Unhelpful self talk
Labelling themselves
So what makes the real difference?
What makes some get results and others not?
I could list a whole host of reasons - Which I will do in Episode #111 of The Coaches Podcast.
But for now, all I will say is this.
People get results because they:
1. Feel connected
2. Feel supported
3. Don't want to let you or themselves down.
Bouns: The word authority gets a bad rep. But it holds the key to actually getting results.
Nowadays people are like "yeah my clients tell me when they want to train and if they want to raid the cupboards that's ok too because ya know self-care etcetera and I'm such an understanding coach.
Tangent. But you catch my drift.
Look...
I'm not sitting here saying being self-employed is the same as employment. Employees have rules n s**t.
But it's unacceptable to think it's normal that your income fluctuates this much.
I've been there. I was just happy to be earning more than a job I hated.
But those contrasting months eat away at you.
It makes you live on the edge and never really appreciate the highs of running a business.
It makes you reactive and emotional. Especially when a client wants to leave.
A big reason you are in this situation is learning from your peers.
The old school way of offering your services, "promoting" it and delivering it.
These people are sending you backwards.
Get professional help. Don't accept the crazy ups and downs.
Build a stable business that supports your life.
Build monthly recurring revenue.
To Coaches, it sounds like a good thing.
"You will fill in a weekly check-in form, take pictures, take measurements, tell me how your food has been, sleep, stress, bowel movements, hydration. Then I'll review all of it and give you my feedback".
Tell that to a prospect, and they will run for the hills. Why?
It feels invasive to them. They are ashamed and don't want people to see what their life is like.
It's also the reason clients leave the service. The idea that someone is no longer "watching" seems a more promising option.
That's why so many people don't get help.
We have coaches who don't fill in their numbers each month. Why? The very same reason. It's easier to avoid the facts than it is to face them. "Okay coach, each week I want you to send me your DM's, recordings of your sales calls, your client results, your projects completed, your income, your profits". Did that make you quiver inside?
Just because you have a level 3 and a monster addiction doesn't make you exempt from accountability.
There are other people who think paying for accountability and not using it is better than not paying. They are just kidding themselves.
Accountability is uncomfortable because you have to face up to whether your words match your actions.
Not having accountability and facing "How's the week been" questions may seem like the easy option.
Without it, you'll be in your head forever telling yourself wee stories that you're happy, and life is good.
We've all been there. There comes a time you not only need to be called on things but to be supported and reap the endless benefits accountability offers.
If accountability right now feels uncomfortable for you?
Do the fu***ng work and that feeling will go away.
Simple.
And If You Can Get The Balance Of Both Right?
You Are On To A Winner 🏆
So IG Looks Like TikTok Now.
This means more and more coaches are doing lip-syncing reels, using "viral" audio and generally just succumbing to the rules of social media in a bid to get engagement.
Here's the thing.
You will always struggle to grow if you don't fix what's on the slides.
What a billion-dollar company does with their app has nothing to do with you.
I've said it before, and I'll repeat it, you've been spoilt in the past.
Now, you're having to work for eyeballs on your stuff.
But unless you work on your avatar, offer prices, branding and self-belief, your growth will be slower than you like.
Let's start focusing on the necessary.
It's what we do in the first 14 days of joining Top Table.
DM "Top Table" if you wanna chat.
Have a cracking start to your week.
These Are Subtle But Important Changes 😊
Unless you’ve got big shares in Aldi, monster, my protein, gym shark?
Stop promoting them.
You aren’t where you need be yet.
Promote the service that keeps clients happy and pays the bills.
Clients Wins Need A Revamp.
Let me know your thoughts 💭
Chris
You can call this my “I’ve had a few new followers so here’s a bit more about me post”
It dawned on me recently.
There are a lot of people trusting me with their hard earned cash.
I run ads to people who have no idea who I am.
I’m Glaswegian which means my accent only gets understood as far down as Liverpool.
I make big promises that my services can deliver.
There are a lot of gurus and online coaches turned mentors overnight so it’s difficult to determine who to trust.
So this post might get you to know me, trust me and relate to me a bit more.
Or it’s me posting a testimonial of myself. The insta marketing “experts” say you shouldn’t talk about yourself. But I think this will help a few.
The truth is, I’ve never had a hand up.
But at the same time, I’ve never known any different. So it wasn’t a hard life as such.
It’s only on reflection when I speak to people who had two parents with two jobs that I realise, maybe that’s why I have this work ethic?
My mum would spend her last £20 on a Chinese because she knew it would make us happy. But it didn’t exactly teach us money management or living within your means.
I still have that working-class money mindset at times. The voice in my head filling me with guilt that I shouldn’t be doing as well.
All I do know is that it makes me a fu***ng good mentor.
I have a great work ethic, I’m a master of winging it, and spend a few quid learning so that I can pass the knowledge on.
This isn’t a rags to riches story. Because I’m not rich. But when I am the most working-class millionaire you will find, it won’t be the money that makes me well off,
It’ll be the fulfilment of living a happy life, working every day with people I like and watching my wee mother pouring herself a beer from our villa kitchen area.
That’s who I am.
Have a cracking weekend 😀

I’ll let the slides do most of the talking,
Business owners in general are going to feel a hit for the foreseeable.
I’m not here to rub it in and take your money.
I’m here to address it.
I’m far from an expert on the economy btw.
But we had 30 calls in June to join us. There was a common theme.
Some clients are cancelling and news of a recession is spreading like wildfire.
We, as business owners HAVE to switch our messaging.
Personal training is a luxury for the masses until it becomes a necessity for the minority.
Saving your money, and making cutbacks are defensive strategies.
Just like the pandemic, there will be consumers and there will be creators.
You have to decide what camp you fall into.
As a fitness business owner, right now, you need knowledge and support.
There are so many struggling, it doesn’t have to be that way.
If you have less than 10 clients and/or are inside your first 12 months, chances are, you’re winging it.
I’ve got a step-by-step strategy to give you.
£500 off should hopefully help you.
I will run this offer for 24 hours so that as many coaches can grab it as possible.
It’ll cost you the price of 2 sign-ups and you’ll get 6 months of access to me and my team.
Just DM me “INFLATION” and I’ll send you your unique discount code.
Doors Are Open For July 1st 😀
With our latest additions to the team and service upgrades, the price of our programmes are shooting up from July 1st.
So if you’ve been on the fence for a while, now is the time to chat and save yourself some money.
DM me “5” to get the ball rolling 🏆
Speak soon,
Chris
Your Business Still Isn’t Growing Fast Enough…
Look, I won’t deter you from doing any of the “tactics” in the images. Except trying to go viral 😷.
The biggest problem I have with these tactics mentioned is that they aren’t business-related.
They are mostly environment and habits based. Can it have a positive impact on how you operate? Absolutely.
But most business owners, do these things and it gives them a sense of achievement.
It also gives them a false sense of security that because they’ve done most of them, they should be getting more clients and witnessing faster growth.
Unfortunately, they spend so much time doing that stuff they don’t do the tasks that move the needle in business.
You know the ones that aren’t very instagrammable 💭
If someone packed their bag for the gym, prepped their food, went to the gym, realised they didn’t have a clue what to do when they got there, then they headed to Greggs for a sausage and bean bake because they aren’t sure what to eat.
Should they celebrate that at least they prepared? Hardly. They never did the work!
The fact is, they never burned calories or stuck to nutrition. They need the knowledge and plans to do so.
You are no different.
Your business needs real tried and tested strategies.
You can blow smoke and mirrors for a while, then you need the real stuff.
If the business advice you receive consists of making your IG cover photo pretty, quoting Buddha, or starting sentences with “Lads, I get it..”
Drop us a DM so that we can give you the real stuff ☕️.
