Spirit Yoga
I have a passion for human movement and Iโd like to share it with you ๐
Trust in the power of yoga to soothe your soul ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งก
I had such a stressful day on multiple levels and was short of time to prep for teaching my Tuesday class. I rushed in feeling quite unsettled and a little bit flighty BUT as soon as I lay on my mat everything just settled, itโs like coming home.
Allow yourself time to be still, let the body and mind settle, pay attention to your breath, lengthen your exhale and the rest will follow.

We were able to Yoga outside tonight ๐

Come and ease away the stresses of the day with this gentle flow class incorporating some strength and balance work. Yoga is about an equal amount of effort and ease, some of the poses can be challenging but by creating awareness in the body and following the breath we aim to find some ease. Itโs takes practice and thatโs exactly why we call it our yoga practice! Itโs not meant to be perfect, if it was we wouldnโt be challenging ourselves.
Classes are open to all levels including beginners, come and try it! Message me, call me or email me if you would like any more information.
Come and be challenged but leave with a wonderful sense of ease in your body and mind ๐งโโ๏ธ๐

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and Iโ
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
โRobert Frost-
๐ Take the path less traveled and do yoga along the way ๐
Ever wonder if you are on the right path?
This morning I saw this perfect heart shaped stone on the path.
Today I am grateful and I feel loved, thank you universe ๐
Hope you have all had a restful Christmas, spent some time with loved ones and got outside in the breaks between the wind and rain.
Wishing everyone a happy new year and health and happiness for 2024.
Practicing yoga will helpโฆ.join me for classes in Robertsbridge on Tuesday and Sunday evenings. Also planning some exciting workshops for 2024 so watch this space.

'Today I asked my body what she needed,
Which is a big deal
Considering my journey of
Not Really Asking That Much.
I thought she might need more water.
Or protein.
Or greens.
Or yoga.
Or supplements.
Or movement.
But as I stood in the shower
Reflecting on her stretch marks,
Her roundness where I would like flatness,
Her softness where I would like firmness,
All those conditioned wishes
That form a bundle of
Never-Quite-Right-Ness,
She whispered very gently:
Could you just love me like this?'

Manifesting your Sankalpa Shakti ๐
Today the focus of our yin class was setting a Sankalpa. An intention from the heart, a little commitment to ourselves to make a change. Sankalpa are the seeds of change. Itโs tradition in yoga to set a Sankalpa, come back to it each time you practice, this how we grow, it keeps us on our dharmic path. Sankalpa shakti is a bit like a superpower, itโs our determination to keep growing, to keep manifesting change, to become the best version of ourselves in order to then be able to share our gifts with the world ๐๐๐

I obviously taught with so much enthusiasm and vigour on Sunday evening that I lost my voice (Iโve had a pesky cough all week) ๐ฌ๐ท
Unfortunately that means that tonights class is cancelled and Iโm having honey and lemon in my favourite mug instead ๐
Hopefully my voice is back in full working order for Yin on Friday.

Inhaleโฆ. Exhale ๐ซ Do that again. Inhale, breathe into your heart, and exhale, relaxโฆ ahhhh.
Doing this check-in often can relieve, open and expand the mind-body. And the more often we do it, the better.
We flood our body with oxygen, and free energy that can often remain repressed or obstructed. Cultures around the world have traditionally turned to breath, plants and foods, that have greatly assisted with stress, anxiety, x insomnia, and more. Now studies confirm that by just BEING in nature, and breathing, we already reduce stress.
It is so important that we use these tools that were naturally wired with, before we succumb to less sustainable sources that provide temporary relief. Letโs not forget that our native and biological connection to plants, Mother Nature, can provide so much healing to our wellbeing.

First project completed with my new sewing machine! I made a massive Santa sack for my yoga blocks. My old sewing machine hasnโt worked for a while now, I think it broke about 20 years ago and thatโs probably why I put it up in the loft and forgot about it, but I have been inspired to start sewing again and have a few projects in mind already. I havenโt spent a lot of money thanks to Lidl (yes Lidl) but it does everything I need it to do and it was probably cheaper than getting my old one repaired!
Happy days โค๏ธ

I hope you have managed to find some moments of stillness and reflection over the holiday period. Have you set any New Yearโs resolutions? I have not, but I have set some intentions for 2023. One of which is to spend more time in nature, I do this a lot anyway because I love being outdoors so I will endeavour to do more of it, whatever the weather!
Perhaps you set an intention to try something new, how about a yoga class? I run small, friendly classes and beginners are welcome. I love the opportunity to introduce yoga to as many people as possible!
Iโm looking forward to getting back into a routine. Classes resume on Friday the 6th January.

Happy new year from my family to yours ๐๐ฅณ๐ฅ
For me personally 2022 has felt a bit cramped, itโs sped by in a super busy frenzy with very little time and space to just take a breath. Most of that is self inflicted, life has felt full on since I left the NHS, started 2 new jobs as well as finding my feet as a yoga teacher, but thatโs not say Iโve not enjoyed facing the challenges along the way. Iโm refinding my purpose, my confidence, my voice, and thatโs worth a lot.
Whatever you are going through, keep pushing though, make small changes and set achievable goals. Iโm hoping for a more spacious 2023 where there is more time to look around, inhale and exhale and really enjoy each moment in order to remain open to all the new opportunities that may come my way.
Lots of love ๐
Anna ๐
Happy Winter Solstice to you all ๐
โThis is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the yearโs threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future; the place of caught breath.โ โ Margaret Atwood.
We needed blankets for our yin session this morning!
The focus of our practice was our root chakra, muladhara. Grounding, letting go, surrendering back to the earth. When muladhara is in balance we feel stable, safe, comfortable with our place on this earth, when itโs unbalanced we can feel fearful, anxious and unsettled.
In a physical sense we grounded through our feet, opened through our hips and lengthened the backs of our legs and our spines. In our subtle body we released stagnant energy, reconnected and gave ourselves the space to listen from within to what we need.
The affirmations associated with muladhara chakra are
I am enough
I am home
I am safe
Why not join me on Friday mornings at West Hill Community Centre 9.30 - 10.30am, come and see what itโs all about and you may just find yourself falling in love with yin yoga.
Last class before Christmas next week then we resume on 6th January.
