I’m not quite sure where to start with this post - my farewell 2022 homage!

It’s been a YEAR. I can’t quite believe that this time last year I had only ever taken part in 2 markets (last Christmas) and was still working full time. My entire life has changed this year. Going full time with Frances Kirk was a RISK!!! But one I knew I had to take for my own personal journey as much as to push the business forward. And what a year it’s been ✨

From designing and launching 3 (!) new collections, to taking part in countless IRL events, to being in the jewellery pop up for three days in central lndn, to being stocked in my first shop! Wow 🤩 never thought I’d do half these things as an anxious little mess with questionable self-motivation - but there is something about this small biz and the people I’ve met along the way that genuinely inspire growth and hard work every single day.

The main thing that I’m grateful for though, above and beyond all else, is YOU. My customers, my friends, my followers, the people who also believe in FK, sometimes before I believed in it myself. It’s been a year of mega highs but also some quite catastrophic lows, and your support has picked me up and kept me pushing on even when times were pretty tough. Being self employed in this climate is not a picnic 😂 but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am returning to the legendary Christmas market in Crystal Palace 🎄🎄🎄

I cannot wait!! Always such a banger, liv & dais really do put on the BEST events with the most incredible curation of small biz sellers. If you’re up to nothing on Sunday (or even if you are cancel your plans heheh) and HEAD ON DOWN I promise you could walk in with nothing and walk out having completed your entire Xmas shopping in one swoop 💥

I remember back in the day before I’d considered making my business something important in my life, I did all my Christmas shopping one year at a local makers market. No, not everyone in the family got the specific book or cable or tech thing they may have asked for, but I promise you no one was disappointed, it made the whole gifting experience SO MUCH MORE FUN and also knowing I’d supported local talent was a really lovely feeling. Give it a go!! Go off piste with peoples lists!! I think that’s what Christmas is all about really 💕

Made from bench off-cuts, each drop is unique, but hammered flat in the same way to give them some uniformity. I then drill through to make the perfect sized hole so they hang freely on their endless hoops ⭐️ Christmas party anyone?!

Daisy & Liv have the most amazing vision - who would have thought this space could be transformed into such a perfect kicking-off-Christmas market - it was dreamy! My most successful market ever (?!?!?!) and such a treat to meet/ chat/ laugh with so many of you. Also the other stall holders were out of this world talented + lovely and I just left with the biggest smile 🎄

Ooooeee it’s been a big month at Frances Kirk HQ - little round up here!

💥 Began market season in earnest and had some beautiful events

💥 took on some incredible custom orders and have been a busy bee making making making!

💥 had my bike stolen 🫣 BUT thanks to incredible generosity by some gorgeous pals have found myself the custodian of this stunner! She’s had a bit of a glow up now and I had my first ride yesterday wahoo!! Back on 2 wheeeelz

💥 revelled in allll things October and spent the month cooking up an autumn storm - 🎃 pumpkin and fruity chutneys on the list yummmm

💥 announced all my new Xmas dates and can’t belieeeeeve the dreamy things I’m taking part in this year! Pinching myself 🤭

💥 also managed a full dry month! Proud of myself tbh but wow that first beer was a delight🍻

This year, all my made to order pieces are up and ready on the website for you to purchase, by mid December I will change quantities to what’s already made and your piece will be shipped asap. For personalised orders this means please get your order in before mid December to avoid disappointment 🙃

I’m also taking part in some fab real life events in November and December and this is where you’ll be able to browse one off pieces as well as the main collection. Some special pieces being made in anticipation and I can’t wait to share them with you! If any are left after my last event, these will also be added online for last min shoppers. Just remember that in the run up to Christmas this year things are going to take longer than usual - Royal Mail are striking which affects both me sending out orders, but also affects my suppliers and their supply chains - so it’s got quite big consequences (I fully support the strike, but please bear this in mind.) This is why this year I have put a deadline of TOMORROW (!) for fully bespoke projects.

A little amendment like an engraving wouldn’t count as fully bespoke so you have a bit more time for this sort of project 💫 but by mid-November I will also be closing the books for this sort of work. The earlier you get your ideas to me the more chance of being able to fulfil your wishes! 🎄

Today is world mental health day. It’s incredible to me that 1 in 4 people in the entire world will struggle with their mental health at some stage in their life. It can feel cripplingly isolating at times, and our brains have the most crazzzy way of convincing us that we are stupid, crazy, abnormal, disliked, ugly, annoying, losing our grip on life, totally alone, weird, a burden, disturbed, evil, OTHER. (To name a micro few) But I find the strangest comfort when looking at that statistic that, actually, it’s an incredibly human, global and united thing to struggle with your old head.

It’s so important to discuss and normalise these feelings so that, at the very least, people can feel confident enough to seek help and realise they are not a total abnormality in this world. You’re not alone 🤍

Here’s a piccy of some of the KNOT collection. Designed from mega anxious feelings I’ve felt over the years and made with the intention of trying to make sense of it all. 5% of the profits from KNOT go to as I’ve always felt that if we give younger people better tools, we might be able to start breaking a cycle.

These gold filled mini knot drops have been SO popular and it makes my heart sing 🥹⭐️

Working with gold filled has always been a dream of mine, it’s such a great material. As long as it’s well cared for (more on this soon) it can last you for a lifetime ✨ However it’s a tricky little customer to work with!!! It’s taken me a few years of making jewellery to feel confident enough to work with it properly - and I feel super proud of how it’s worked out. Before launching the collection I was practicing soldering it for WEEKS literally to make sure I get it just perfect. It’s not like soldering silver or solid gold and takes more precision and patience but we made it 👏

On this note, soooooon (next couple of weeks) an exciting little section is going to be launching on the website / for newsletter subscribers… care tips, other tips, musings 👀 I don’t want to give too much away but watch this space 💥
