📣 Introducing our fifth speaker - Sue Scott 📣

Helford Marine Conservation Group Coordinator in her spare time, Fal and Helford Estuaries Estuary Officer for a day job. Sue was born and grew up on a farm in Cornwall and started her conservation career in the Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, packing up data for projects and advising on wildlife and habitat management.
Sue always stresses the importance of looking after the nature on our doorstep and not over complicating life!

📣 Introducing our fourth speaker - Jasmine Isa Qureshi (they/she) 📣

Jasmine Isa Qureshi (they/she), is a q***r writer, Journalist, Researcher - previously working for Netflix at Wild Space Productions, BBC Natural History Unit / BBC Earth, and Sound Off Films - Wildlife Film-maker, Ambassador for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Engagement Officer for the youth led organization A Focus On Nature, Activist, Marine Biologist, Poet and Speaker/Presenter. They are absurdly passionate about wildlife, conservation and the environment. As a speaker and journalist she is also passionate about topics such as diversity, political agenda, sexuality, identity and gender, particularly trans rights and understanding; contributing to magazines, blogs and events around the country, and as a presenter has been involved with CBeebies, Edinburgh Science Festival and VOX Media. They have featured in Attitude Magazine on a recent 9 page spread on Ocean conservation, intersectionality and q***r theory, with acclaimed drag artist Bimini, Activist Noga Levy Rappaport and wildlife broadcaster Dan O'Neill, this also included a film made with Freeborne Media. They have performed spoken word and poetry pieces for/at the Natural History Museum and Mehfil Arts Centre, centering her own experiences and understanding of nature, sexuality, race and religion.

📣 Introducing our third speaker - Maxine Piron 📣

Maxine is a qualified veterinary nurse with a masters degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation. She has been working and volunteering for various projects across Southern Africa for the last 6 years. She has experience working both in the field and in rehabilitation centers as a vet nurse and researcher. Her research interests are mostly focused on spatial and behavioural ecology, having worked with carnivores, primates and giraffe. These experiences have allowed Maxine the chance to put her skills to use to ensure optimisation of conservation projects. Last year, she used EarthRanger to optimise the monitoring efforts at Zingela Safari and River Company where she worked as guide and Wildlife Manager. Now she works as a conservation intern for African Parks

📣 Introducing our second speaker - Meg Hayward Smith 📣

Meg Hayward Smith is a marine scientist and advocate for marine conservation, currently working as a Marine lead adviser for Natural England and Marine Scientists for Research Development UK. She founded Falmouth Marine Conservation and has worked on projects including seagrass monitoring, restoration, and setting up a marine acoustic network to study population trends in porpoises and dolphins. Meg is passionate about connecting people with nature and promoting community engagement and education for conservation efforts

📣 Introducing our first speaker - Cheryl Marriott📣

Cheryl joined Cornwall Wildlife Trust in 2004 after early career posts in Suffolk, Dorset, Powys and Buckinghamshire. Cheryl is a big advocat of working together pragmatically with landowners, farmers, fishers and businesses to jointly fix environmental problems. She is currently most excited about bringing rewilding, farm advice, community action for conservation and working with fishers in St Austell Bay all together into one nature recovery project called Tor to Shore-watch this space!
