TEACHERS NEED HIGHER PAY!
As a teacher of over 15 years in mainstream schools, I absolutely agree that teachers should be paid more! The workload demands are often insurmountable and many teachers take time off sick as a result. Many teachers are leaving the profession as a result. This also needs to be addressed! 👇🏾

TIPS FOR LANDING YOUR FIRST TEACHING JOB
Many university students dream of becoming teachers and often overlook the importance of acquiring real-world skills that can help them secure their desired teaching job upon graduation. While there is a high demand for good teachers, it's important to develop job search skills to ensure that you stand out from the competition and land a teaching job that aligns with your goals.
Two effective ways to gain experience is to volunteer to support students in schools or become a teaching assistant to start off with. This experience can prove to be invaluable when you are seeking a teaching job. Gaining practical experience in the classroom can demonstrate your proficiency to school leaders and reduce any concerns that you may not be able to handle a classroom full of students.
Another effective strategy is to start searching for teaching positions early, preferably during the first two terms of the final year of your teacher’s training course. Schools may begin seeking teachers for the next academic year as early as January, and by starting your job search early, you increase your chances of securing an interview or even a job position before other training teachers start their hunt for their first teaching job.
To leave no stone unturned in your job search, you must be proactive by checking on school websites and visiting useful sites such as TES.com, indeed.com, etc for vacancies. Networking is also a crucial factor when seeking a teaching job. You should leverage every contact you have and forge new relationships to get the inside scoop on jobs before they become public. By using these job search strategies, you can get a head start on finding the perfect teaching position that aligns with your goals and start your teaching career on the right foot.
