While I was walking around the harbourside today for my Harbourside chaplaincy I met who is a street poet. He wrote me a poem about what I do which really depicts my role and the support I offer. Thank you Jonny ✍️🙌🙏🏻
‘An ear on the river’
Here, an ear on the river
offering time to those blown by difficult currents,
carrying a small flame to warm cores,
enquiring, staying, hearing,
going on foot between the boats,
and hopes and broken people,
nursing dreams and persecutions,
fixing leaks and when permitted by the right ear shedding tears.
Here, an ear on the river, bringing the water of listening.

I spent 30mins today sitting and chatting with Sean who you will often find sat by the Prince Street Bridge in Bristol.
When I first met Sean a few months ago he was homeless but had the hope of a flat to live in thanks to a local charity. The good news is that he has now moved into the flat and is no longer homeless, however, he is still facing some significant challenges.
Sean told me today that he is seriously ill and as a result of his illness, his liver is severely damaged. Yesterday he started a 2 month treatment plan and has been told that the tablets he is taking every day are likely to make him feel quite unwell.
Sean also told me that although he had been given a bed, cooker and some other basic furniture for his flat, but that he didn't have any food and was sitting on the floor as he didn't have a sofa.
Today I could help Sean in a small way by buying him a Sausage and Bacon roll and a cup of tea, but there more that we would like to do to help Sean.
We would love to be able to give him a sofa and also take round some groceries to his flat. We are also contacting the local foodbank on his behalf.
We would like to raise some extra funding to be able to help Sean and also others we support in their own situations. We would specifically like to raise funds to be able to buy a Sofa for him.
If you would like to help us to do this you can give through our Just Giving Campaign here - https://justgiving.com/campaign/bristolchaplaincy

We have recently launched a JustGiving Campaign to raise £20,000 so that we can progress the new opportunities and establish new expressions. Please consider partnering with us so that we can help many more people facing challenges in their lives.
