Many organisations have data silos. Sometimes it's just that no one knows about a particular data source. Other times it's about maintaining control of the data they have collated. Data silos are bad news. They lead to duplicate and inaccurate data about a single subject or topic. All organisations should have a clear understanding of the data they need to operate effectively and find the best ways to capture and re-use it.
