Winter's Moon
Beautiful things for living & giving. Online and from our gorgeous shop in Chichester, W. Sussex. Homewares & Gifts | Vintage, Fairtrade & Handmade.
All the pretty things! July has been keeping us busy…Rosina has been packing all your orders with beautiful efficiency….and Rebecca, Tess & Jess are keeping the shop ship-shape whilst Emma & Sarah enjoy some well earned time off. Throw in some time out for expected & unexpected family events and the plate spinning becomes a bit more exciting 😬 but none have dropped yet so it’s all good!!

On the day of Chichester Pride, our final post in our rainbow is for glorious Dolly Parton who has been a long time ally and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. For me it’s about aiming to be open-minded, curious, empathetic and willing to change your view. I am surrounded by people different to me in my close family and my work, covering (nearly) all the differences that life can deliver. I’m still learning, but it’s made me a better human, for that I am in no doubt. Jx

TAA-DAA!!! So here is our cunning plan!
• We have 25 ‘Do Something Good-y’ bags packed with over £30 worth our bestsellers.
• Come buy something (anything) on Saturday.
• Donate some CASH (which we will give to to go towards their event costs) take away a ‘ Do Something Good-y’ bag and it’s win win!!
• (One bag per person. No minimum spend)
This would not have been possible without the support support of six of our wonderful suppliers who said YES!! So huge thanks to .seeds

This is me ‘showing my workings’ and I had to unpick in my own head why it’s felt so important to support this year as much as we can. It’s not a ‘side note’ for a business of our size…it takes time and energy away from other areas of the business that are hugely important. But as it says, we are so happy to support anything that encourages kindness and the freedom to live and love as you choose ❤️ Jx

Shop views. It’s always difficult to capture our compact bijou world in a few photos, but this three little snapshots of how we are looking right now. But come in next week and something will have moved probably, we can’t help ourselves!

SO! Thought we would throw this out there…what business would you love to see in Chichester?
We currently have a (very lovely) empty unit next door*, and it’s not the only one in Chichester , but I think we are doing better than the majority of high streets right now. The decision of which business takes over a property is down to the landlord and the tenant, unless licenses need to be granted. So sadly there is little the council can do to control the types of businesses that open, but there is I think more that could be done to encourage the sort of businesses that are needed. But will save that for another time.
I have a wish list of businesses I would love to have in the city & wonder what you all think?
For me I would really love a good greengrocers like or I know we have the weekly markets but I sometimes want to be able to buy apples in a paper bag on a Tuesday! Team WM would also love a fresh, affordable takeaway lunch offering of interesting salads & soup etc. (if you think we have it in the city already would love to know where). And if or ever decided to open here....I would be first in the queue!
What about you? What businesses would you like to see in our city?
(* Unofficial word on the street is that we will have new neighbours in the next few months, and if my sources are correct.....they will be a lovely complementary business that will be great for the city 🙌)

We are like moths to a flame for a lovely textile at Winter’s Moon, and these beautiful new wash bags and pouches were calling our name from a very nice stand at the trade show in Paris that we visited in January. Hand printed, in a lovely thick cotton..they are as practical as they are gorgeous!

Lovely to be featured!
Independent shop in Chichester celebrates four years on North Street - find out more here Winter’s Moon is an independent shop located on North Street in Chichester. They celebrated their fourth year on the high street recently.
We are just getting back into our stride for 2024, and hope you are too? We are making ALL the plans for the weeks and months ahead, and hugely grateful to still be here as always!!

A peek into the first window of 2024. We have reverted to our comfort zone of a good colour combo to make us happy…and help us stop missing skating Mr Badger and co. Plus a snuggly blanket….who doesn’t need a snuggly blanket right now?

Bit of late housekeeping! We are in the home straight guys!! Come see us, our little skating creatures, Rosina in her Santa hat….we are here for all the last minute delights!!
Stocking dilemmas are not to be underestimated! We want them to be full and bountiful, but we don't want to buy stuff for the sake of it. We want to spend our money on products that were made responsibly, but don't want to break the bank. Above all we want our loved ones to really love and use what they unwrap on Christmas morning - we are here to help!
From calming essential oil roll-ons to seeds for Spring we have a great range of products across most budgets that we think tick all the boxes.

One of my favourite photos from the deluge in my phone from the last few weeks. We are here to sell stuff, obviously. But our ambition is always to deliver way more than that, and this Christmas window has done that so well which makes us soooo happy!

Snaps from yesterday…it was a busy busy day of deliveries, sorting stock and customers (🙏) despite the rain. The window is a joint effort from Emma & Jess and I’m so happy with how it turned out….it’s chock full of Christmas cheer and hopefully will make passers-by feel a little joy for the season ahead!

All is calm in our window right now, full of lovely textures and soothing colours…hinting at the season ahead!

So this is a verrry belated gratitude post sharing some amazing small creative businesses locally that helped make my daughter Gracie’s wedding to Kevin at the end of June such a wonderful day.
The flowers by were all grown locally by sisters Sarah, Charlotte and Lydia. It was the first official wedding they did & they went above and beyond our expectations and were so easy to work with.
The gorgeous Juliet and her wonderful team delivered endless deliciousness on the day and supported G&K so much in the planning to help make it such an easy happy day.
It was the first wedding held at Graylingwell chapel and the team there were so accommodating. The chapel made such a great space for both the ceremony through to the eating, then the dancing.
We rented trees and the floral arch shown from which was so easy and just had such a wonderful impact on the space. We loved the sustainability of being able to do this.
Finally I want to thank photographer who was with us the whole day, but so unobtrusively, and has captured it all so beautifully.
It was the very best day to be able to share with family and friends full of love, tears, laughter, great food and very committed dancing. Thanks so much to everyone who helped make it such a success, we had an absolute blast! ♥️
‘Jess…please could you do a nice bright flatlay using the new cards?’ Turns out she can….x 3!!
Can’t decide which we love the most??

As always at WInter’s Moon we aim to make your life easier, to help you find the perfect little thing to give to those you love. We created our ‘wedding edit’ a couple of weeks ago….we just haven’t shouted about it here. But we think it’s a lovely curation of good things to give the happy couple. We love a wedding!! ♥️

Cats out of the bag! 🐈⬛
We are really happy to announce that Winter's Moon is taking on another space in Chichester city centre. The new site is just round the corner from us, 56 steps if you are counting. It won't be a pure retail space in the conventional sense, but we will be open to the public for workshops and more.
We are really hoping our customers can support us in this next step (it feels like a HUGE scary leap right now to be honest), and will be sharing more in the next week or so.

Morning! Thought we would pay full attention to our new front table, created by Jess last week. It’s a gorgeously cool curation to greet you as you walk in from the current heat of the high st!
