The season draws to a close this Saturday. The team are at home against champions Aldbrough St John seconds.

Whilst there is just pride at stake the two big club honours are still up for grabs

The bar will be open during the game and we are hoping the weather stays fair for the game.

Etherley defeated today

Etherley went down to a 70 run defeat, after bowling first and getting a weakened Cockerton side to 50/2 after 20 overs then finished strong and ended on 143/7.

Etherley never really got going after both opener e went with less then 40 on the board the writing was on the wall. A great knock by JonJoe Bolton got Etherley within a hope but after he fell there wasn't much hope. Falling 70 short in the end.

Round up:

Etherley take home the victory to after a hard fought win over Barton 2nds. Bowling first Etherley restricted Barton to 52/9 off their 40 overs, on what could be best described as a "difficult pitch" to play on.

Batting - Etherley took a strong hold on the game in the first few overs, but after losing the openers with 30 on the board there was a little mid order wobble and Etherley got over the line ending with a 6 from Olly Johnson and Etherley ended on 56/5

Onto the next one - away to Middleton Tyas

This week:

Wednesday - We are away to Cockerton in the Division C cup

Saturday - We are at Home to Middleton Tyas in the league

We've had to rearrange our game with Middleton St George 2nds due to our groundsman having faulty kit 🤦,🤦, we've provisionally rearranged til next Tuesday

Disappointing day yesterday.

Bowling first Etherley let key chances down which ended up costing us, ASJ batted and scored 232 off their 40 overs.
In reply Etherley had a start/stop start chasing and lost some key wickets early. The captain attempted to steady the ship in reply, but with wickets falling around him, and eventually him getting out, Etherley were all out for 123.

Etherley chases down 200 to win! An excellent 184 run partnership from openers Chris Bennett and Harry Dinsdale done the damage and Raymond Johnston came in and finished it off!

Great victory!! Onto the next one!

Change of innings with Barton finishing on 200/6 after 40 overs

A bright start by Etherleys bowlers as Barton lost 3 wickets in the opening few overs, James Frankland top scored for Barton with 100.

The 2021 season is fast approaching! The release of fixtures was made on Saturday and Etherley Cc start the campaign away to Barton 2nds.

We shall be placing a full list of league fixtures on the page shortly.

We hope to begin outdoor training (in groups) on the 28th March, when restrictions are lifted.

Cricket is coming! 🏏🏏

With the season just around the corner, we hope to be starting preparation work on the wicket and grounds shortly. We hope the weather is great for the season ahead so that we can get as much cricket in as we can (although the weather will more than likely stop us!)

Whilst we are in a second national lockdown, we appreciate that people are finding it tough, both financially and mentally, but dont let these things get on top of you. Please reach out to friends, family and loved ones if you are feeling under pressure in these massively difficult times. If, unfortunately, you don't have a support net around you, contact your local GP surgery if things are getting a bit tough for you (mentally) as they have great services available for you.
