We are not here on Sundays due to our commitment to promoting social and digital detox for both our team and our community. If you’re seeing this message, you’re witnessing just one of the many benefits of reducing screen time.

While we recognise the incredible value our phones and digital platforms provide, we also believe in the importance of balance and mindful usage.

Wishing you a beautiful and peaceful Sunday! 💛

With Sexual Health Awareness Week in full swing, we want to shine a spotlight on the impact of infertility on intimacy. At femme health, we’ve spoken with hundreds of women trying to conceive, and one recurring theme is the profound effect infertility has on their s*x lives and relationships.

Infertility can transform the experience of intimacy, turning what should be a natural and enjoyable part of life into a stressful and emotionally charged situation. The pressure to "perform" at specific times can create feelings of anxiety and disappointment, often straining the connection between partners. The focus on conception can overshadow the spontaneous and joyful aspects of s*x, leading to feelings of frustration and isolation.

By addressing these challenges openly, we hope to support individuals and couples in navigating this difficult journey, helping to restore intimacy and maintain a strong, healthy relationship amidst the struggles of infertility.

Many women freeze their eggs as a precaution, but not all end up using them for several reasons:

Natural Conception: Some women conceive naturally after freezing their eggs, making the frozen ones unnecessary.

Change in Life Plans: Life circumstances may change, and some women decide not to have children or explore alternatives like adoption or surrogacy.

Partnered Relationships: Women may freeze eggs while single but later meet a partner and successfully conceive naturally.

Emotional and Psychological Factors: The emotional complexity of IVF or fear of failure can make women hesitant to use their frozen eggs.

Cost and Invasiveness of IVF: IVF is expensive and can be physically and emotionally taxing, leading some women to avoid the process.

Here at femme we were surprised on how low the percentage of women returning to use frozen eggs, however note how incredible it is that we have access to this treatment that can give us peace of mind, options and time.

This month we have partnered up with who have incredible options available for access to egg freezing and unlimited rounds of IVF cycles, including refund packages for early success. To find out more about what they have to offer visit their profile above.

Today marks the start of Sexual Health Week in the UK, and it's a great opportunity to broaden our understanding of s*xual health beyond just s*xually transmitted infections (STIs). Many people are taught that s*xual health is only about preventing diseases, but it encompasses so much more.

This week encourages us to look deeper into other important aspects, such as:

Consent and Communication: Understanding boundaries, healthy relationships, and how to communicate openly with partners.

Emotional Well-Being: How our mental and emotional states impact our s*xual experiences and relationships.

Body Awareness: Knowing your body and feeling comfortable with it, which plays a huge role in s*xual health and confidence.

Reproductive Choices: Access to contraception, fertility treatments, and family planning.

Sexual Health Week shines a light on the broader conversation around s*xual well-being, ensuring that people feel educated, empowered, and supported in all aspects of their s*xual experiences. So here is to a great week and a huge well done to all of the accounts spotlighting this week.

We are one week into Sleeptember, an initiative by aimed at prioritising sleep, particularly in the workplace. At femme HQ, we’re embracing this campaign and are excited to share it with our incredible social community. Quality sleep is essential not only for mental well-being and productivity but also for fertility. Consistent, restful sleep helps regulate key hormones like melatonin and cortisol, which in turn impact reproductive hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. These hormones play a vital role in ovulation and menstrual health, making sleep a crucial factor in fertility. So what better excuse then to get under the sheets and have that early night.

PCOS is more than just a fertility issue—it's a complex condition that affects hormones, metabolism, and mental health, with symptoms like insulin resistance, excessive hair growth, fatigue, and increased risk of diabetes and heart disease. Unfortunately, conversations around PCOS often focus only on fertility because of the way women’s health has traditionally been framed. It’s time we broaden the discussion and raise awareness about all aspects of PCOS, not just the impact on fertility. Let's support and empower those who live with this condition every day. 💜

What is PCOS?

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder affecting women of reproductive age. It is characterised by a variety of symptoms and can impact a woman’s overall health and fertility.
Impact of PCOS:

PCOS can have several effects on a woman’s health, including:

- Infertility or difficulty conceiving
- Metabolic issues such as obesity and increased risk of type 2 diabetes
- Cardiovascular problems, including higher risk of heart disease
- Psychological effects like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem

Why Do We Celebrate World PCOS Day?

World PCOS Day, celebrated on September 1st, is dedicated to raising awareness about Polycystic O***y Syndrome, its symptoms, and its impact on women’s health. The day serves several important purposes:

1. Raising Awareness: Many people, including those affected by PCOS, are unaware of its symptoms and implications. World PCOS Day aims to spread knowledge and awareness to ensure earlier diagnosis and better management.

2. Promoting Education: By educating both the public and healthcare providers about PCOS, World PCOS Day helps improve understanding of the condition, its symptoms, and available treatments.

3. Encouraging Research: There is still much to learn about PCOS, including its causes, best management practices, and long-term health effects. The day encourages more research and funding to improve care for those with PCOS.

4. Fostering Community and Support: The day brings together individuals affected by PCOS, healthcare professionals, and advocates to foster a sense of community and provide support. It also highlights the importance of mental health support for those living with the condition.

5. Advocacy for Better Care: World PCOS Day is also about advocating for better healthcare policies and access to effective treatments for all individuals affected by PCOS.

By celebrating World PCOS Day, we acknowledge the challenges faced by those with PCOS, promote better health outcomes, and work towards a future where this condition is better understood and managed.

I’ve met people who are open to talking about their fertility journey and others who find it too personal, and that’s okay. Reflecting on my own birth story and the traumatic experience I encountered, it took me nearly a year to talk about it, even though I consider myself a very open person. The most important thing to remember is that you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to—it's perfectly fine to set your own boundaries.

'Let's talk about something else' was always my go too sentence.
Have you felt the need to set boundaries around your fertility conversations?

The term "honeymoon" traces back to an ancient tradition where newlyweds would consume honey for an entire moon cycle, believed to enhance fertility and ensure a sweet, prosperous start to their marriage. This ritual blended the sweetness of honey with the symbolism of a full moon, marking the beginning of a fruitful life together.
