Hello everyone... It's now officially Christmas!

I'm posting more pictures of the artdolls I've been updating for pleasure (as 'tis the season...) -And the eagle eyed among you might recognise the reuse of few familiar faces from montymillsdesign.etsy.com :-D

The pictures show hair completed in four different ways. -I'm loving using extra long teddy bear fur, here I've used it in a really wild colourway, but it also comes in gorgeous honey and natural colours. I might even experiment with some dying techniques in the new year...

Inspired by the doll hair from wool video (previous post) I decided to try this out. Tiny amounts of hair on solid glue strips won't really work for how I construct dolls, so I decided to use my normal technique of stitching lengths of wool through the machine to create a centre parting.

Combing out the wool is really hard work and this particular wool didn't form lovely fine hair, but wavy natural dreadlocks..!

In order to make a full head of hair I then had to stitch a second layer of wool (which I didn't comb out). This is sewn under the 'wilder' first layer.

Finally, after trimming the ends I was left with a funky bit that was all combed out, so I stitched this over the natural layer to make a cool punk feature! :-)

I came across something similar on a lazy Sunday morning... Now that montymillsdesign.etsy.com is fully functioning I've been able to revisit some old friends and rejig, finish and in some cases totally dismantle and reuse!.. more to follow :-)
