Today is National Scotch Day in the U.S, held annually on July 27, which presents the iconic whiskey. This elegant and unique spirit must be made in Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ as it is considered Scotch. It must be aged for at least 3 years in fermented oak barrels from malted barley to have an ABV or alcohol content of less than 94.8%. Most scotch is made from barley, water and yeast, but may contain other grains. All fermentation additives are excluded under the Scotch Whisky Act. There are five classifications of Scotch Whiskey: Single Malt Scotch, Single Grain Scotch, Blended Malt Scotch, Blended Grain Scotch, Blended Scotch. Scotch is often identified by the region in which it was produced, and each region has unique characteristics that affect its taste. Despite being scotch made in Scotland you can enjoy the spirit everywhere. So here we want to celebrate with our brothers and sisters over the pond we may be in the U.K but any reason to drink whisky is a good reason to us ππΌ, we advise to drink whilst wearing a kilt π¦‘π₯π¦‘π₯π¦‘π₯π¦‘π₯
July 12 is national simplicity day. July 12 is to commemorate the birthday of Henry David Thoreau, who was born in 1817.
π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘
Thoreau advocated a simple life and wrote many famous books on this subject. He simply believed that people's understanding of themselves "overcomes" all external forces in life.
π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘
He advocated for a simpler life, to be better exposed to these feelings. Written in 1854, his most famous work is "Walden Lake", which describes his two years living alone in the cabin; this is the cabin he built himself in Walden Lake, Massachusetts.
π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘
Although the Simple Day is celebrated to commemorate Thoreau, many people, from the founders of the practice of yoga to the monks of the Eastern and Western traditions, have followed the philosophy of simplifying life spiritually and materially throughout the centuries.
π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘
Today we live in an era in which mobile phones, televisions, and other electronic devices are widely used. We rarely have time to sit back and reflect and organize our thoughts. There are some simple things that we can take time for, so that we have the opportunity to reflect, and this does not have to be dedicated to a few simple days. You can set any day as a simple day!
π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘
So all the team challenge you all for the rest of the day to turn your phones off put them in the draw and forget about them for the day. Spend some time in nature, or a book and breath and reflect, but most of all enjoy the tranquillity of it all.
π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘

Awesome evening smoke... dark chocolate in the first third, moving to a slight black pepper in the 2nd and in the final definite baking spice, particularly cinnamon. Slight oaky ness on the finish. We highly recommend this stick

Origins of April Fools' Day
Some historians speculate that April Foolsβ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. In the Julian Calendar, as in the Hindu calendar, the new year began with the spring equinox around April 1.
People who were slow to get the news or failed to recognize that the start of the new year had moved to January 1 and continued to celebrate it during the last week of March through April 1 became the butt of jokes and hoaxes and were called βApril fools.β These pranks included having paper fish placed on their backs and being referred to as βpoisson dβavrilβ (April fish), said to symbolize a young, easily caught fish and a gullible person.
History of April Foolsβ Day
April Foolsβ Day spread throughout Britain during the 18th century. In Scotland, the tradition became a two-day event, starting with βhunting the gowk,β in which people were sent on phony errands (gowk is a word for cuckoo bird, a symbol for fool) and followed by Tailie Day, which involved pranks played on peopleβs derrieres, such as pinning fake tails or βkick meβ signs on them.

Good morning to my fellow Badgers π¦‘π¦‘π¦‘. The beautiful people at Dark Woods have been dabbling in some dark magic and have managed to get some of their marvellous coffee into some of the Nespresso pods. So for the first time ever you lucky Nespresso users can now also have access to some of the most fantastic coffees from some of the best producers in the world. So the team here at The Blind Badger was wondering if we got some into stock, is there any Nespresso users out there that would be interested in purchasing them? They come in boxes of 10 pods and retail at Β£6 per box plus delivery. They have a 12-month shelf life too. If its something you think you might like to try then show your interest in the comments, please. I do have a sample box so if you live local I could arrange a pod for you to try.
Please see below for the description and the flavour profiles are on picture 3.
Coffee Details
Black Hill is our modern interpretation of traditional Italian espresso flavours, taking its inspiration from the award-winning blend created for our Deer Hill espresso, and named after one of the highest points around our moorland scenery.
By blending Speciality grade acrabicas with an award-wining Indian robusta from the Harley Estate and carefully tailoring the roast profile for pod brewing we've been able to produce a uniquely rich and full-bodied espresso.
Sweet and satisfying with milk, complex and smooth without, Black Hill delivers familiar flavours without compromise.
The pods are fully aluminium and so can be recycled.
