How To Inspect Your Engine Oil.

Before you check your oil, make sure that your car is parked on level ground and that the engine is cool to the touch. Locate the dipstick, which is usually located near the front of the engine, and pull it out. Wipe it off with a clean rag and insert it back into the engine. Then, remove it again and check the level of oil on the dipstick. If it's low, add more oil until it reaches the full line.
