SEVEN things YOU can do to REDUCE your risk of cancer;
1. Quitting Smoking
Smoking is one of the most significant risk factors for cancer. According to cancer research, quitting smoking can reduce your risk of developing cancer by 50-70% within 5 years, particularly for lung, mouth, throat, and esophageal cancers.
2. Quitting Alcohol
Quitting drinking can significantly lower the risk of cancers like liver, breast, throat, and esophagus. Cutting out alcohol entirely can reduce your overall cancer risk by around 7-10%.
3. Sugar Consumption
A high-sugar diet can contribute to obesity, which increases cancer risk. Maintaining a healthy weight reduces your risk of cancers like breast, colon, and uterine cancer by up to 10-20%.
4. Exposure to Harmful Chemicals
Minimizing exposure to environmental toxins (such as pesticides, air pollution, and certain household products) can reduce your cancer risk. Reducing chemical exposure, especially carcinogens, may lower by 5-10%.
5. Adopting a Plant-Based Diet
A plant-based diet has been shown to reduce cancer risks, particularly for colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers. Research suggests that eating a plant-based diet can lower your risk of cancer by 10-15% due to higher intake of antioxidants and fibre, and reduced intake of processed and red meats.

Engaging in regular physical activity is associated with a 20-30% lower risk of developing cancer overall compared to inactive individuals. Specifically women who engage in high levels of physical activity have a 30-40% reduced risk of developing breast cancer.
7. Reducing Stress
Studies suggest that managing stress can reduce risk factors associated with cancer. Stress management can lead to a 10-20% improvement in health behaviours that are directly linked to reduced cancer risk. Stress reduction may also enhance your immune system potentially decreasing cancer progression,
