🇨🇦🏉Canada Grizzlies Ireland And Wales Tour 2024🏉🇨🇦

What a past 9 days on tour with these guys. I met them when I went out there on tour with the GB Police last year and liked them enough to offer some help out on their own tour this year!

They took me in like a brother and kept me included in everything they were doing too. We took in quite alot starting with the Guinness tour, then moving on to the Jameson tour, out to Kilkenny, eating/drinking at Conor McGregors restaurant/bar, the Titanic experience, serenaded by the Cardiff Arms Park Choir (WOW!) and lastly a Cardiff Rugby pre season game. I've also drank quite alot of Guinness, Lager and Cider... ever the professional!

All that and not even mentioning the 3 games!! The guys put every ounce of sweat and blood into those performances and represented Canada with the true heart of the Grizzly Bear on their chests! Happy I could help, even if sometime it wasnt for my skill sets but having to run back to the changing room and grab one of the guys shorts before the first kick off.... as he'd managed to do the warm up and forgot to put them on 😂

I just about had enough tape to keep them stuck together and then massaged alot of hamstrings and backs to keep the guys moving.

A top experience for me too and one that will long in the memory! Made friends for life (as everyone always says 😂) and I'm sure I'll be taking some of you guys up on the offers when I'm next in Canada!
Australia 2026 is their next tour and my name is well and truly down for that one as well!!

The Grizzlies faced Ireland yesterday in their first game of the tour. It was hard fought game in true masters spirit. The players did the badge proud.

So we've decided to introduce an Employee of the Month award here at Joey Sports Massage Therapy Ltd.

The July 2024 award goes to Joey Broadbent, his commitment and attitude this month has been excellent. Completing 94 massage sessions during the month and to still have functional hands is something to be commended!!

The prize is tickets and travel to watch semi finals and finals in London this weekend!

Keep up the good work and who knows who will win it for August 2024?!....

So... fun story... 5 years ago today I walked into my Online Mangers Job at Sainsbury's in Greengates and didn't have a clue that by the end of my shift, my working life was about to change forever!!

Halfway through my shift I had a yearly review with the store manager and everything went so well. We talked about the good job I'd done in that last year, we also talked about next steps and me going up bands in management etc.... anyway while this was going on all I could think was "I fu***ng hate this job, I dislike how much of life it's sapping out of me"...

The last statement/question after being told about the great job I was doing was "right I think that's it, is there anything you'd like to add?"... my reply which came out of nowhere was "yeah, I'm going to hand my notice in" 😳

My boss was very taken back, I was very taken back and the next thing (after talking to the boss for about half an hour about why I'd decided this) was to phone Elizabeth and explain to her that I'd quit my very stable job to chase a dream of making a full time career in sports massage!

I got on the blower and said "everything's OK, but I think I've quit my job"... then went on to explain... Elizabeth replied with "it doesn't sound like you think you have, it sounds like you have"... "yeah" I replied and as supportive as she's ever been I got the reply "it's fine, we'll make it work"......

5 years later and I'm still here, living the dream, enjoying my job and making so many amazing memories both at work and in my personal life!! It hasn't always been easy (especially at the start) but I never gave up- even doing a daily diary through bloody covid!!

Moral of the story.... follow your fu***ng dreams, even if they sound daft/far fetched and don't listen to anyone that tells you "I think this is a bad idea, you've got such a good job at the minute"- they're the ones that are stuck in a job they dislike but to scared to make the jump 👊

Well, what a great 3 days I've spent with the West Yorkshire Police Federation! I have been to 5 different station to help out on their Wellness Week and raising funds for , I had a great time helping out with sports massages and meeting the dogs too!
I made it to station in Pudsey, Stainbeck, Huddersfield, Halifax and also at Elland Road- sorted out alot of police officers with bad backs/shoulders!!
I always love my time working with the police and get so much out of these trips to station!

Great day out today with the The West Yorkshire Police Federation.
We headed to Pudsey and Stainbeck stations, offering teas, coffees, doughnuts, cookies, sports massages and even a visit from Obi the Wellbeing dog!

Great day and we do it all again on Thursday but this time at Elland Road Station- with even more things and stalls on offer!!

Again tried another instructor for a beginner and thought this one was trying to kill me! 😂 got my highest score but as you can see from the after picture... I also look like I was having a stroke come the end of the class 😂
Onto tomorrow when I'm thinking I'll move onto advanced beginners.... wish me luck!! 🙏

**Price Update**

So after just over 4 years I've never upped my prices... that's unfortunately until now.

From January 1st 2024 the price for a 1 hour session will rise from £45 to £50.

I've already been making people aware when they've booked in and rebooked for the new year (yes, I am taking booking for 2024, where has 2023 gone?!).

Apologies for the price rise but unfortunately needs musts and all that jazz. Hope you all understand and I look forward to getting you booked in in the future! 🙂

Well what a nice surprise after a week in the USA!!
First day back in the Otley room and I've received this letter! Amazing to be nominated again, so thank you to whoever took the time to do it!
I won this award when the last Otley Buisness Awards was held in 2022 and I was in complete shock- had to ask Elizabeth "what the hell do I do?" When I heard my name read out! And it's just as big a shock to be nominated again 😁
