North West London Jewish Day School
A modern Orthodox Jewish Primary School, serving the community for 75 years.
A busy last day and last Kabbalat Shabbat/Assembly. We are proud of all our pupils, but these children have gone above and beyond this year. Kol HaKavod!!!! Shabbat Shalom.
Have a wonderful summer.
See you all in September!
2023-24, Over and Out.
A massive thank you to Miss Caplan for a lovely evening at our end of year staff bbq. Rabbi Broder does a great brai!!! Thanks to all the staff- whether in classrooms, offices or outside on Security- for another wonderful year at NWLJDS.
The only things missing are Year 6 and their parents. Graduation here they come!!! Mazal Tov to our wonderful kids who had their last day at school today (and enjoyed a fabulous water fight with their teachers).
Good luck in your new schools. Come back and visit us!
We say a sad להתראות and תודה רבה to 5 members of staff this week. Mrs Meshulam, Mrs Halter, Mrs Landy, Mrs Mattes and Shin Shin Itamar, we will miss you!!! Come back and visit and stay in touch.
Well Done to the winners of our Euros Fantasy Football competition. Coach Adams presented the runners up with their medals and our winner with his cup this morning.
We are, of course, so sad that England didn't win The Euros, but it is a great teaching moment. We are proud of the England team for doing so well and reaching the final. We acknowledge that Spain played amazingly for the whole tournament, and wish them Congratulations. At NWLJDS, we teach our children to be gracious when they don't win, and be happy for others when they succeed.
Good Luck, England! NWLJDS is behind you all the way! (If you could possibly manage the win without the need for Extra Time and penalties, the teachers would really appreciate the extra sleep the kids would get!)
It's Coming Home!!!
Our last Whole School Kabbalat Shabbat of the year was an emotional one as Y6 took over and serenaded the rest of the school. The energy was palpable, and it was bittersweet.
In culmination of this year's efforts, a massive MAZAL TOV to Israel on winning the House Cup.
Shavua Tov
Sweet chilli chicken, rice and veggies for lunch today. In Reception's words, it's "DELICIOUS!!!"
Remember to pay for your kids' yummy lunches. If you haven't already done it, use this link: https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/Q8PG7IAY
We had an Open Morning today to welcome some of the new children starting in Reception and Gan Chaverim. It was lovely to meet them and get to know them a little before they start with us in September. We hope they had a great time playing in the classrooms and Outside Areas. We can't wait to see them again after the summer holidays.
We are the Champions!!!! North West proved ourselves once again at Etgar. First Overall School! Mazal Tov to Year 5 and to Etgar Coach Extraordinaire, Rabbi Ford. Thanks to all who accompanied the kids to Wembley 🎊🏆🎉
We are very lucky to, this term, have the opportunity to expose the children to classical music. Here are our Y1s enjoying their lesson this week and making an orchestra!

שבת שלום!
Year 5 had a fantastic day at Shakespeare's The Globe yesterday. They had a tour of the theater, getting to sit on some of the seats, were told about how the theatre had been built, the price of the tickets to see the shows and all the different shows they have there. They had a workshop and learned all about different acting techniques and got to put the techniques into practise when they acted out a scene from the Scottish Play (shhh, don't say its name- it's bad luck!).
It was a really, really good day.
Lag B'Omer is on Motzei Shabbat and Sunday this week. We enjoyed some singing and dancing at Kabbalat Shabbat, and Y1 made their own Lag B'Omer bonfires.
Parashat Behar. Shabbat Times- In: 20.44 (check your community! Many bring in Shabbat early), Out: 22.01
Shabbat Shalom, Lag B'Omer Sameach, and Happy Half-Term!
*School and Gan reopen at normal time on Monday 3rd June*
Another fabulous outing this week- Year 5 had an amazing adventure at Go Ape! Thanks to all those who helped with this trip. We love giving our wonderful pupils incredible experiences, at school and beyond, to help them grow into well-rounded individuals.
Years 1 & 2 had the most amazing time at the Young V & A museum, yesterday. They took part in a fabulous workshop called "Hero Arm", learning how children make great designers. They all explored the fantastic museum and had a wonderful time! A big Thank You to the parent helpers who accompanied them.
Reception and Gan had a wonderful day at Woodside Animal Farm today. They saw and petted many animals, had a tractor ride, played in the adventure playground and Soft Play, and had a blast on the funfair rides. They had been so busy that lots of children (and even some adults!) fell asleep on the way back to school. A massive thank you, again, to the parents who came to help.
Yom Ha'Atzmaut 2024. Happy Birthday to Medinat Yisrael, The State of Israel 🇮🇱 💛
Take a peek at what our children (who looked fabulous in blue and white 💙 🤍 ) got up to today...
This week we have celebrated VE Day. All classes have done fabulous art work and/or writing about this special day in British History. Gan learned about the street parties, the Union Jack flag and made their own red, white and blue paintings, Y1 made bunting to decorate their classroom using ICT and designed and wore their own medals (with pride), Y2 did wonderful writing and medal designing, and Y3 created beautiful art work.
Wishing everyone a Peaceful Shabbat שבת שלום.
Parashat Kedoshim Shabbat Times (London): in- 8.24pm, out- 9.36pm
Lots of beautiful Sedorim were enjoyed this week, as well as Hagaddah learning and making, song singing, Pesach shows, matza baking and cleaning. That's a wrap on Spring Term. Wishing all our NW families and friends a Pesach Kasher v'Sameach. See you all on 2nd May at the normal time.
Science Day! A massive thank you to Mrs Waters and Mrs Halter for organising a fabulous day. Fun and educational, just how we like it here at NWLJDS. The kids loved it.
We always tell our wonderful children to reach for the stars. This week they saw stars, planets, astronauts and lots more when they had planetarium workshops. The children were all engaged (and in awe!) and asked some very insightful questions to the wonderful workshop presenter. Even the teachers had a blast (badoom boom)! Shabbat Shalom to all! Shabbat times: in- 7.26pm, out- 8.31pm.
PuRiM sAmEaCh, פורים שמח, from all at NWLJDS!!! Well done to the staff for the fun play of the Purim story, the PTA for the fab Israeli Mishloach Manot, the parents for the amazing costumes, and the children for the great ruach (atmosphere). Shabbat Shalom to all.
After a very busy week learning about Chinese New Year and a visit from Perform Drama for EYFS and KS1, the children and staff are having a well-earned break this week. Enjoy your Half Term adventures. We look forward to hearing all about them next week!
Parashat Mishpatim- Laws. HaShem gave us 53 commandments in this week's torah portion. Enjoy Reception Class singing about a very important one- not to tell lies. Shabbat Times for this week: in- 4.49pm, out- 5.54pm. Shabbat Shalom to all.
World Book Day 2024.
EYFS and KS1 enjoyed a Perform Drama workshop based on The Rainbow Fish and KS2 had a wonderful workshop with author Katya B***n. The costumes were amazing, as you will see. Well done to Mrs Berg and Mrs Dorman for another fabulous WBD, a highlight of which was The Masked Reader video, where the children had to work out which teachers were reading the book "Zog" to them, by listening carefully to the voices.
We have had a lovely first few days of term. Shabbat Shalom!
Early Years found a hurt worm in the Adventure Playground and decided to protect it from more harm. They blocked off that part of the playgound so noone would step on it. There was lots of talk between them about HaShem's creatures. We are so proud of them!
