It was wonderful to meet Lord Michael Howard in Carlton Club for HUCA event. Great advise heeded by our previous leader of the party for all candidates to "keep trying" and not to give up! Also heard some funny moments with Margaret Thatcher when she landed in Hawaii.

Last night I had the privilege to attend Christmas celebrations at the Pakistani High Commission and to say a few words about my recollection celebrating Christmas in Pakistan, when religious discrimination did not dominate the country. The event was attended by many eminent guests including Rt. Hon Baroness Patricia Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Delighted to have attended PM's invitation to celebrate Advent at No10 and to represent British Pakistani Christian community.

A year ago we lost Sir David Amess, the fantastic MP for Southend West and lifelong servant of the people. His contribution to public life will never be forgotten, he championed so many causes such as animal welfare and education. Today our prayers are with his wife Julia, his children and the people of Southend 🙏
