Armistice Day 2021.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
🙏

Looking good now 👍🏻❤️

If I can get a water supply, I’ll pressure wash the block paving surround too. Have brushed and treated it today to help clear some of the weathering marks, moss lichen etc 😊

Hi all

Please see below a message about the centenary stars event:

Hi All,

I hope you’re all doing well.

I appreciate that we are at the start of an extremely busy period but could I please ask that you cascade the following to your members and volunteers:

“It’s just one week to go until the Centenary Stars go live! Join us at 1500hrs on Wednesday 29 September as we celebrate the Royal British Legion’s centenary year, acknowledge those who have been nominated in the Reward and Recognition scheme and give a big thank you to all the fantastic people who make RBL so brilliant!

The afternoon is set to be very entertaining with films, interviews and a few celebrity surprises, so grab yourself some goodies and get together with colleagues, members and volunteers to join us for this online celebration.

To watch the show, simply follow this link at 1500hrs on 29 September: https://rblcentenarystars.co.uk”

Many thanks,

Message from the chairman

G'day all,

It looks like that I will be joining you at the above.

I needed to wet my lips last night and spoke to Polly at the Saxon Tavern, she will arrange to be open on the 20th which will enable walkers to use the toilet if anyone is desperate plus the bar will be open.

Polly is also planning to hold a coffee morning for the Poppy Appeal this year something which the Saxon Tavern has done in previous years.

Katrina, as Branch Chaplain, is planning to attend as Jenny our Vicar is away.

Best regards

Mike

George Arthur Roberts was one of our earliest volunteers, branch founders and an incredible soldier and fireman. Serving in both World Wars, he played a huge role in helping us support the Armed Forces community for many years, ultimately being awarded lifetime membership for his military Service, charitable work, anti-racism campaigning and being an all-round ambassador for those desperate to have their voices heard by society. George, we salute you!

This week, we are shining the spotlight on several Army recipients of Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Colour Sergeant Jamie Lambie has been awarded an MBE for his compassion and support to injured recruits undergoing rehabilitation during training.

A Platoon Sergeant at the Parachute Regiment Training Company, CSgt Lambie is in charge of the rehabilitation platoon. Having been an injured recruit in 2003, his own experience has motivated him to give something back by investing in the trainee paratroopers.
