Today was a completely different event to what we usually visit. We are absolutely honoured to have been invited by RAF Lossiemouth to provide First Aid Cover to their annual LossieFest Friends and Family Day on base. With around 5000 attendees, it certainly was one of our busiest events.
We were treated to some fabulous aircraft displays, both in the air and on the ground. There were fairground shows, motorbike stunts and even a visit from Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance - SCAA’s Mascot Teddy!
Our Cadet Poppy was eager to learn about the first aid side of things and wasn’t shy in meeting motorbike officers from Police Scotland and having a seat in various aircraft.
We would like to thank the team from RAF Lossiemouth for having us, Matthew and the team from 21CC Group Ltd for use of their 6x3 Gazebo, BroadNet and KeySIM for keeping our teams in contact with control and to our volunteers, who each travelled around 500 miles to help with todays event.

Please enjoy our highlight video on our post and comment to let us know what you think!

Volunteer's unusual callout as they rescue young birds trapped behind cupboard 04/07/2024

Thank you to East Lothian Courier for the wonderful write up regarding one of our recent call outs.

Volunteer's unusual callout as they rescue young birds trapped behind cupboard A VOLUNTEER got a feather in their cap after rescuing young birds trapped behind a pipe in a house at Wallyford.

Thanks to a wonderful donation of monitors from our friends at Polbeth Community HUB, we’ve been able to upgrade the mobile control room setup in our Ops Van.

MED2 is our multi-purpose vehicle that most of you will recognise from our pictures. It’s a Command & Control Room with a separate area set up as a First Aid Post.
The vehicle is kitted out with 4G internet, 240v and 12v electrics with solar charging, a computer to access our online CAD software, a UHF repeater with hand held radios, BroadNet network radios, a night heater and even a kettle and microwave for volunteer welfare!

Let us know what you think!

This weekend we have had teams out supporting Hibernian Community Foundation for their Girls Football Festival in East Lothian.

The Hibernian Girls Football event is the largest girls only football event in Scotland, spread across 9 pitches, 5v5, 9v9 and 11v11 games were played with teams competing for the trophy.

Well done to all of the football teams who gave spectacular effort across both days.

Thanks to the Hibernian Community Foundation for inviting us along to be a part of their day for a second year running.

Not our usual call out, but we’re always happy to help!

One of our volunteers responded to a call for help for a member of their local community.

They had posted on the local residents group about hearing a bird trapped behind their cupboards in the kitchen.

Our volunteer was able to attend and managed to find and free these 2 little ones trapped behind a pipe behind the cupboards.

Upon advice from Scottish SPCA, they were relocated to a nearby tree, where other birds could be heard replying to their little chirps.

Hopefully mum and dad will be able to keep on feeding these fledglings and they make a full recovery.

Just another feather in our cap…

With 3 separate teams out today, its critical that we are able to stay in contact with each other and with our control room. We utilise BroadNet Network Radios, equipped with KeySIM multi network SIM cards, to give us the best range possible to ensure the safety and welfare of our volunteers.

And today’s 3rd event is Fauldhouse Childrens Gala Day. A new event for us, having previously provided first aid cover for their Santa Parades at Christmas time, it’s lovely to be back here in the sunshine after a wonderful sports day last week as well!

Thank you to all our volunteers who have been out this weekend, without volunteers, CRVS wouldn’t be the charity that it is.

We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers…

Today, we’re back at one of our regular events, the Crosbie Mains Livery Horse Show.
The weather isn’t the best, we’ve had a lot of rain, but that’s not stopped the enthusiasm from the riders of all ages!
We’re pleased that we can return to help out time and time again for the event organisers and we look forward to the next one.

The sun was out today for our visit to River Kids Children's Charity’s Annual Duck Race in Broxburn!

Our team basked in the spring sunshine while watching over the crowds and even managed to get some pictures and videos from our drone, which we have shared with the event organisers for their social media, give them a like to see the videos of the 2 Duck Races!

Today we had a trip to not so sunny Saltcoats, where we were honoured to provide 1st Aid cover for RBLS Saltcoats, Ardrossan & Stevenston Branch.
Just as the command to March Off was given, the obligatory raindrops joined us for the duration of the parade, which was then followed by a very fitting service to mark 100 years of the branch being formed.
Congratulations & well done to all at RBLS SAS Branch.
