LouiseB Counselling
Counselling to suit you! I have a lovely room in Durrington, do 'Walk & Talk' and online & phone
It was very exciting last week to open my very own new counselling room! 😁😍🥳🤩
This means I have more availability for people who'd like to see me in the room, and much more flexibility on days and times.
Feedback so far has been lovely -
"Really calm and cosy"
"Just how I would have done it!"
"Feels really peaceful and quiet"
"So cute!"
Easy to get to in Durrington, I look forward to seeing you here!
A walk in the fresh air, a chat with a friend, meditation, yoga, a holiday, are brilliant ideas for self-care, but the best therapy is… therapy!
So if you’re needing some extra help give me a call / drop me an email and let’s start making a difference.
I’ll add a link to my website in the comments section, or drop me a DM.
This looks very helpful - pass it on!
Young People told us in our Youth Voice Census that they didn't have access to Mental Health support. Explore Youth Employment UK's Mental Health and Wellbeing page for advice: www.youthemployment.org.uk/employment-help-young-people/choices/mental-health-and-wellbeing-for-young-people-in-the-uk
Ta da! Sunglasses 2022 Take 1...I'll take bets on how long it takes me to lose them!
Confession: I used to hear people talking about being present, taking the time to notice what’s around me and taking slow calming breaths….and I’d just think ‘Yeah yeah’ - until I tried it!
Now, if I miss doing this in my day it really throws me!
It helps me feel grounded and grateful for what I have, reduce anxiety and feel confident.
Sometimes the most simple things are the most effective, aren’t they?
What daily routine do you swear by?
I LOVE being a counsellor, but I like to practise what I preach and take some ‘me’ time, and for me, when the weather allows, that’s getting out in the garden and seeing what’s coming up, pulling a few weeds or watching a bumbling bee, which I notice are waking up and enjoying the sunshine. ☀️
I also love a good binge-series and rapidly watched the latest ‘Ozark’ which led me to ‘Inventing Anna’ - as Julia Garner is fab. It’s an incredible story, and whilst I don't agree with her methods of making money, she had such self-confidence and self-belief, really had guts and went after her dreams. Amazing what you can achieve when you believe in yourself.
The accent was somewhat questionable though!
How about you? What are you watching.....or growing?! 🌱
I haven’t introduced myself to new followers for ages, so here's a little bit about me.
I’m Louise (she/her) and I help people realise they do deserve respect and feel ok to take time for themselves. Accept that life has ups and downs and have the capacity to cope. Make and maintain boundaries in personal and work relationships.
I can help people learn about themselves - find answers to “why do I do that?” and take control. Quieten anxieties and ignore thoughts that aren’t helpful. Say “no” when they want to. Gain a fresh perspective and feel valued and confident to take on new challenges. Smile at themselves in the mirror 😄
I live in sunny Worthing (Durrington actually), and I love nothing better than walking over the downs, binge-watching a series and taking a moment to feel the sunshine on my face.
I love hot curry and Haribo, hate Wotsits and celery, and am partial to a cheeky game of Blockudoku when I have a few minutes…
So tell me a little bit about you - what do you love, hate or get up to?
Is your mind constantly overthinking about the past or the future? Being present in the here and now might help....😊
I was listening to the radio 🎵 this morning and I discovered it is World Menopause Day!
The menopause is a life phase I’ve been doing some personal research on, as it’s a phase of life that is personally upon me! I realised, to my puzzlement 🤨I knew so little about it. That it has never been taught to me or really talked about very much. That does seem to be changing, thank goodness, as it happens to literally every person with a female reproductive system on the planet!
It’s a time of transition when hormone levels change 📉 and hormones affect every part of our bodies and the long list of symptoms reflects that. We all need to know about it - as your wife, mother, daughter, friend or work colleague 🧍♀️ may be dealing with symptoms and need support. We need to start talking about it much more.
I have just asked my 14yr old and they said it was taught to them at school 🐤🐝 as a time when a woman’s eggs have run out - well that’s an improvement!
Davina McCall did a great 🤩 documentary earlier in the year, which I’d recommend if you missed it. Davina McCall: S*x, Myths and the Menopause on Channel 4
Menopause can affect mental health💚 and we need to start recognising that. It can cause anxiety, ‘brain fog’, depression and behaviour changes. If you are affected, talk to your GP 👩⚕️ 🩺and the people around you.
So be kind and supportive ❤️ and let’s start talking about it more.
Sitting in the sun 🌞 with my cup of tea this morning and watching the bees. I decided to let a patch of clover 🍀 grow this year having seen how the bees love it, and how pretty it was on Highdown. NGL slightly disappointed they're not pink like the Highdown clover! Even so, the bees do visit constantly, they don't seem to mind them being white 😂 they are very busy bees!🐝Photographing was tricky as Toby the cat did keep getting in the way!
Such a beautiful client's view from my counselling room. You can look out (or indeed wander around if you'd like) rather than looking at me!
Just looking at green spaces is amazingly good for your health and mood
🌳🌿🌺🎋
It made me smile 😊. I just went into the garden and noticed this plant's flowers have started to come out. This is one of my favourites as it gets covered in bees, they really seem to love it 🐝 😍
I invite you to notice what natural thing makes you smile today - add a photo if you like! 😄
Great weather for ducklings! 🦆After a morning of sitting in front of the pc I went for a wander as I know it always makes me feel better to get outside. ☔️The weather didn't look great but a year of doing 'Walk & Talk' sessions with clients has taught me it's often not as bad as it looks from inside (although sometimes it really is!) I was so pleased to be rewarded by seeing lots of cute ducklings in the nearby pond, also saw lots of swallows swooping down to drink (not so easy to photograph 😂). If you can, get outside today - loads of studies say it's so good for mental health.
I planted this little beauty a few days ago and already it's found it's support! We all need a little support sometimes and it's not something to be ashamed of. Talk to someone if you need to and get supported. 🌱
Try connecting with nature using your senses. Take a moment to pause and notice what's around you. This can be especially helpful if you're feeling anxious to bring you to the 'here and now'. Whether you're out walking, in the garden or by a window, what can you see, hear, smell and maybe touch and taste? Really pause to focus and you may notice yourself calmer and more aware of your surroundings.
This past year I have been outdoors more than ever and I know it has really been great for my mental health and wellbeing. On this beautiful sunny day, try and in whatever way you can 🌳🌻🌞🎍🌷
📣 starts today. Help us to get the nation talking about nature and mental health. 🌳 Take a moment to celebrate nature in your daily life 📸 Take a photo, video or sound recording 📱 & share the connections you’ve made using the hashtag . Find out more: mentalhealth.org.uk/mhaw
When I was in training to be a counsellor I didn't really think about the realities of having to run my own business! Never did I think that I would learn to make my own website....but (drum roll please) here it is! 😁
I wonder if there's anything you have learned to do that you never thought you would? 🤔

Dare you share a pic? 🤩
I’ve always loved walking. The feeling of freedom, moving, space and connection with nature and the seasons. 🌱
Recently walking has become even more important. It is my exercise, time to think, time out of the house away from screens and time away from my family 😉
