Kilmelford Bridge (A816) - work starts tonight on putting a safe crossing in place, in a matter of days, to replace the bridge which is too dangerous for use. I thank Voltalia for arranging a public exhibition tonight at Connel Village Hall of their plans for the proposed Cruach Clenamacrie wind farm.
I was pleased to get the chance yesterday to participate in panel discussions on defence issues with the Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps and on energy policy, both of which are significant importance for Argyll and Bute.
Highlights from yesterday’s events on the second day of the party conference in Manchester. I welcomed the acknowledgements from delegates and panelists that pumped storage schemes such those proposed locally in Lorn for Cruachan and Balliemeanoch will play an important role in energy supply and policy.

I thank the Conservative Women's Organisation for their panel discussion on energy, and I was pleased to note the understanding that pumped storage schemes such as those proposed for Cruachan and Balliemeanoch will play a significant role in energy supply.

I was pleased to see such a good turnout for Oban Pride today (Saturday 2 September). I thank the organisers of Oban Pride for putting on such a well-run event, and I look forward to next year's event.
Attending Thursday's meetings of the Council's Environment, Development, and Infrastructure Committee (EDI) and the Argyll and Bute Harbour Board. I noted the Council's response to the Visitor Levy consultation, and I acknowledged that the draft Harbour Revision Order for Oban harbour will now be commencing the formal consultation process organised by Transport Scotland

I noted the formal consultations for the closure of Achaleven Primary School will now be proceeding, and I encourage those in the community to participate in the consultations.

It was good to get the chance earlier this week to meet with representatives of SSE to discuss their proposals for the connections to the Blarghour wind farm development near Inveraray.
Attended tonight’s meeting of Luing Community Council, along with my fellow ward councillor, Councillor Kieron Green, and noted the variety of issues in the community, including ferries, the school transport provision, and the ongoing school closure consultation.
